**** The Official OnePlus 6 Thread ****

I went with the 6T over the 3XL and the whole process was a lot less fun than I was expecting, I'm not a fan of the direction they're taking mobile design at the moment.

I might be reading it wrong but are you unhappy with your choice of 6T, was it the best of a bad bunch for you?
Wireless charging has its appeal but even the 10W charging is a bit of a grind. When I moved from Samsung (around S7 era) to the OG Pixel I didn't miss wireless charging one bit, the super fast wired charging was a much bigger benefit for me. I would like to have wireless but it's not a deal breaker for me.
The price of the Pixels is scary for what we're getting. The 6T I think is worth every penny. I almost think if the 6T had come out as the Pixel 3 with a Google logo on it for £700 or £800 people would still pay it. So £500 I can live with.

I don't see the issue with wireless charging at all.

I have dash charger on my desk at home and one in the car for my OP5. Battery life is still excellent after 15 months and can't say I've ever thought that I "need" wireless charging. It's nice (wife's s8 does it) but have 2 chargers and such a fast charging phone I have no issues with the OP6T not having it.

OP 3t, I'm actually happy with it for the most part, software updates a bit slower than I'd like, camera was never up to much but a nice screen, ample performance for my needs, a good size phone for me and a great battery (which I value highly). It did suffer from one really annoying bug where the screen would stop acknowledging touch input until restarted but it occurred maybe once a month so was never a huge problem.

It's not in good condition and I had to spend the money hence the upgrade...

A little of both maybe? I can't logically explain it, part of it is because I don't truly want to upgrade (but I have to), part of it is because I dislike notches (yet every brand has decided we must have them), part of it because I think phones are stupidly priced now and partly because I like to use my wired headphones. I know the latter is a minor point for most people but it does bug me still.

If I lost dash charging I'd probably be whining about all the times I now suddenly need to quickly top up the phone but generally speaking I'm either stuck at a desk or out all day so being able to rest the phone on a nice stand and not worry about plugging it in and removing it is a tiny *tiny* benefit but it's a tiny benefit I quite like, I was already picturing having the 3XL on the (bloody expensive but nice) Google stand.

I agree but this whole thing has been confusing for me, when I got the 3t I was super pleased, moving from the ******* awful battery on the Nexus 5 was worth it alone and I felt quite pleased at only spending £400 versus the £600 (or whatever it was) other brands were asking for theirs and now it's £500 for the OP but the others have shot up to £900-1000? Something feels wrong here.

It sounds stupid I know and I'm sure once I get the 6t with the latest version of Android and all the other improvements it will finally sink in that it's a great phone and a big improvement over my 3t but I almost feel like I've made a mistake somewhere, can't quite explain it.

I'm on the verge of ordering a 6T to replace my Huawei Mate 10 Pro and for the price, it may as well be the 256/8gb model.

Bit apprehensive about doing so as I've never owned a OnePlus device but the support from Huawei is pitiful.

I'm also not a lover of notches but the teardrop isn't too bad I suppose.
Time will tell...

Do it. I bought my girlfriend the 5T 9 months ago and she loves it, it's so much more cleaner and responsive than my S7E whenever I play with it. A friend moved to a 6 from iPhone and has nothing bad to say about it.

Can't wait to move away from Samsung. Only 5 days left till I can order ahhh wish time would hurry up!

Nobody picked one up from the pop up store yesterday I guess?

I have the 6 and it's honestly the best phone I've owned. Plus OxygenOS is just so much better than that POS EMUI that Huawei use.

I'm considering the same move, Mate 10 Pro owner also, but, I'm also asking myself where is the Mate 10 lacking for us to want to upgrade?

I get a good two days battery life out of the Mate 10, No notch is a plus, water resistance, notification led, a very fast fps that works every time, face unlock, camera I would say is equal or better on the Mate 10 Pro, I guess for me I comes down to performance, moving to a snapdragon 845 would be nice but I'm wondering would I really notice in real world usage?

We are due an update very soon that includes the GPU turbo update and October security updates.

Hmm dunno what to do, my 3T could do with an upgrade but do I go with the 6T or the S9+ which can be got for very similar prices or the S9 for even cheaper?

At first I was annoyed with the lack of headphone jack but I think I'll get used to it, the only things putting me off the 6T is lack of stereo speakers and no notification light, the latter of which I know will drive me mad.

Get a OP6 retains the headphone jack and has a notification led.

The Mate 10 Pro isn't a bad phone hardware wise but Huawei have pathetic support.

Up until the release of the Mate 20 Pro, the 10 was still the flagship.
Different parts of the world have different updates and the UK SIM free variant is one of the last to receive anything at all. I'm still on the June security update for instance.
Huawei stated that the Mate 10 Pro would have the GPU update by the end of August and yet nothing has emerged... Not in this region anyway.

My handset also had a WiFi issue. I took advantage of a door to door service offered by Huawei which was great as I wasn't without a handset.
However, the replacement has the same issue. I tried to book another door to door replacement but Huawei have conveniently discontinued the service despite still advertising it.
The phone has got to go for a standard repair and I've been informed a replacement will be shipped out. Hopefully it'll be another new one so I can sell it.
I'm done with Huawei.

In the meantime, I've ordered the 6T.

Apologies for the derailment.

Is the face unlock feature on the 6T (and I assume the 6) the same as the naff effort that was around a couple of years ago where the phone could be unlocked by a picture of the owner? I think I remember trying it on my OG Pixel and I could unlock it with a picture from facebook on my pc monitor.
I know it's not on the same level as the Apple FaceID or the Samsung intelligence scanning.
