**** The Official OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro Thread ****

Obviously to be taken with a bucket of salt this early on, but interesting that OP8 leaks have a screen cutout for a selfie camera instead of the pop up.

Yep, it’s the non Pro version which leaked, so the cutout is instead of the notch on the 7 and 7T

Well that would make sense.

Be interesting if anyone manages to put the camera under the screen in the new generation of phones next year.

The OnePlus 7T Pro event launch is happening tomorrow in the UK @ 4pm. Pretty certain I will get the McLaren Edition, should be interesting to see the design tomorrow.

Just leaked on Twitter
- The OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will be the MOST EXPENSIVE OnePlus phone yet: It will cost €849-€859 for 12GB/256GB.
- The starting Price of the OnePlus 7T is €589-€599 for 8GB/128GB.

How do OnePlus normally convert to local market currency? Will that be £799 for the Pro and £549 for the 7T, or a straight 1:1 conversion?

Not really, the iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB is £1,300, so the 7T Pro McLaren Edition is £450 cheaper and has better specs.

Better specs is subjective. Perhaps I should have said that OnePlus have eagerly accelerated their prices to the same level premium phones hit a year or two ago. And the trouble remains that you can't get a carrier subsidy for a OnePlus phone (check out the going rates with EE and Three to see how shockingly they are priced), and OnePlus don't do significant discounts even after release fever has died off because they iterate so frequently. Compare with Samsungs which will generally drop from £1000 to £6-700 a few months after launch as well as being available with carrier subsidy. And it's not like a OnePlus holds its value any better than the next Android phone.

OnePlus still push out the cheapest mainstream Chinese phones.
For sure spec's are subjective and dependent on what each user wants from a phone. OnePlus continue to sell older versions of their phones with specs that mirror recent top brands for much less.

The only reason Samsung discount their phones so much now is that they are not competitive on the spec side.

On that point - so has everyone else.
A year or two ago an iPhone was £800...now it's £1300

No one else promoted themselves on price as a "flagship killer". I'm not saying OnePlus have no right to charge what they want, or to change their business model, but they are no longer what they once were.

And not particularly important, but an iPhone with extra storage is £1300. Base 'top' models are £1049 and £1149. I can't recall what the standard 11 costs, but it's a lot less than both.

Sure you could buy an iPhone for £1049 with 64GB of storage but you wouldn’t be able to do much with it :p
Like for like storage with the 11 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren and it’s £450 more expensive, which is a significant amount.

Compared the standard 11 and 7T it’s a £300 saving and you get a lot more phone for your money.

We're talking apples* and oranges. I say that OnePlus has put up their prices and you say 'sure, but look how expensive every other phone is'. I say that OnePlus have moved on from being able to call themselves flagship killers because of the price and you again say 'look at how much you get compared to the most expensive Apple product with some added storage options.'

As a side issue, that iPhone 11 will be fully supported in 5 years and will be running the latest version of the OS without lag or stutter and it'll still be worth a few quid second hand. At that point, you could argue the iPhone 11 gave you a lot more for your money.

* no pun intended.

Tbf I don't think they've used 'flagship killer' for a few years have they? Granted, yes they charge more, but you get more these days too. The original was great and was only about £250, but you couldn't really put it up against an actual flagship at the time.

Also, I have a 4 year old work iPad and it's pretty slow and laggy now...
