Can a fresh install be done from the ML installer as Downloaded from the App Store?
I've just done a fresh install to my Mac Pro and an upgraded install to my MacBook Pro.
iMessages is... poor.
Every chat protocol, including texts, really needs to be uploaded to Apple's servers, otherwise it simply does not work with missing messages.
Even if I just use iMessage to message people, if they do it from their phone and it arrives as a text message how useless is that if I'm at my Mac Pro?
Otherwise, I've had to symlink a few things to get it how I want and disable Gate Keeper but hey ho.
Office 2010 for PC and Office for Mac includes an option to save to SkyDrive.I cloud is built directly into pages now. You create documents either on your mac or iCloud and they are automatically saved to icloud for backups. Last time I checked, word didn't have any where near that level of integration.
The problem with rolling back to SL is that it's now, as far as we can tell, regarded as obsolete by Apple. Safari 6.0 is available for ML and Lion and fixed a massive list of security vulnerabilities, but it's not available for Snow Leopard.
It's definitely something to take into consideration if you plan to run an old operating system.

Why are you getting missing messages is the question, never had a problem here.
If you iMessage someone and their phone sends their reply as a text, only your phone will show that message. Hence COMPLETELY useless in this situation.
Any and all messages from a contact should be uploaded to the servers and pushed to all devices, otherwise you will just get a disjointed conversation.
And another thing, I can iMessage a friend via his number on my Mac Pro, MacBook Pro and iPhone and none of them show the messages from the other machines.
Useless.
I just re-downloaded the ML installer and opened it up to have a look around and it contains the packages folder and all the packages you're told to have for a custom DVD/USB install disc. The guide I'm looking at tells you to remove the symlink for packages from one folder and create a new folder with the same name as the symlink and drop in all the packages that already exist in the packages folder the symlink links to.
I think I'll just do a fresh SL install App store install ML.
It's being fully integrated with iOS6 - hang tight.
ok i seem to have stumbled into a little problem!!!
can anyone help
well i fresh installed onto my Samsung SSD, copied data from time machine and now have my partition partitioned correctly to GUID rather than master boot record. why it was set to this i don't know! Possibly because my SSD came out of my PC?
but anyway, whether it's a combination of Lion and GUID or just either on their own i don't know but MLosX flies now. so smooth, snappy and sharper.
Very few PCs have their boot volume formatted as GUID still, so that would be why.
Booting a GUID partition requires EFi. Macs have used it from the Intel transition, PC component makers only really started to adopt it seriously with the Z68 chipset.
