The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

I've now had 3 of these from Philips, the first one had a horizontal dark band, the second had motion checker pattern and even worse dark band, the third one is the 'best' but a dark band has developed. I've given up after 5 months and asked for a refund (from Philips), I will be getting it and picking up an Acer 32" 4k

Do Philips issue refunds? I just thought they would only offer a replacement.

Well I had the issue with 3 of their monitors and got fed up with going through the procedure so I suggested they sent me an alternative (equally valued) model that doesn't suffer from these issues. After 3 days they said they had none of the 40" 4k's in stock and won't send a different model so they are going to refund me.

That's probably the best option. Bit worrying really, I've had to send two monitors back, my current one seems fine - but they definitely seem to have a quality control problem so I suppose things might well go wrong with mine at some point. :(

Not much on offer really they all seem to have problems.

Thanks for responding. You know what I've been searching and I can't believe not one other company aside from iiyama has made a 4K 40" monitor. It's been over a year since the Phillips came out and no bloody change in technology or new products in this 40" category.

I miss my screen so badly! I'm using my old 2007 Dell 27" 1920x1200 monitor and it feels abnormal. No longer can I have 4 windows open with forums/Netflix/advfn/email open all at the same time viewable. Even 2 Windows results in horizontal scrolling. I'm stuck in the Stone Age and it completely sucks!

Because of the low number of large 4K monitors available many people on other forums have been focused on 4K TVs(that have 4:4:4 chroma) - Samsung seems popular. The main downside is display lag, the upside I suppose is that in the longer run you'd expect 4K TVs to be cheaper than monitors.

The Phillips mate. Hope this one will be more reliable. Getting delivered tomorrow. Took the liberty of buying the 200mm VESA mount and I'll use it with my ergotron lx stand this time instead of the stand. (Was too eager to use it last time round so didn't get round to buying the vesa.

Well hope you have better luck this time around.

How is it? How is it?! :)

Its very nice! Working fine. I used the tft central icc profile and I'm happy with it but still tinkering around. Even though I switched it to displayport 1.2 windows still left it at 30hz so I adjusted that after reading back posts earlier in the thread.

The screws that came with the vesa mount won't go into the back of the phillips. Need to work out which screws they are (using the provided stand in the interim).
