The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Glad everyone is enjoying it, I'm slightly more reserved...

1. Refresh rate / lag...whatever you want to call it. When playing a game I tend to find the graphics somehow stuttering a bit, it's not fps as I've been between a constant 30-45 in the two games I've tried and I've tried them in FHD and UHD.

I have turned off all the 'clever' settings but I'm still seeing the lag...any ideas what that could be or is anyone else getting it?

2. It is bright, very bright as studulike pointed out, changing the brightness knocks it out of sRGB mode but that shouldn't be a problem as I'll be colour calibrating it.

3. Make sure you get it on 60Hz, 30Hz had me feeling queasy in minutes!

4. Screen glossiness, compared to my older LCDs the screen is very glossy. I'm picking up reflections like mad, I can see a glow from the missus screen over the other side of the room and also from the window and what the window is lighting up in the room and it's a very overcast day...this could be troublesome for a day to day monitor when using it for anything important such as photo / video editing.

Apart from that the acres of space is very nice, the forum looks mad as it's so wide now! I don't know how people with smaller UHD screens manage as the icons and text must be tiny!

Yes, it's just in FPS, I haven't had much of a chance to test it yet today so I've tried it in APB Reloaded (old game, easy for the graphics card to handle even at UHD) and Wolfeisten The New Order.

I'm noticing it on both, I'm going to look it it more carefully later on tonight and see if I'm missing anything.

I'm going to colour calibrate it as well, see how that makes the colours look.

One good thing though, despite the PWM being only being 240Hz (see Baddass's post earlier) I haven't noticed anything that's causing me eye strain yet, except for the brightness...certainly no problems there!

Has anyone else tried it in FPS's yet?

I tried to change to sRGB but the will automaticly change brightness back to 100, when turn down brightness then it will change back to 6500k again. ( what i mean is sRGB mode will fixed brightness at 100 )

sRGB is better than 6500k , the colours and black level seem better but its just too bright at 100 Brightness

You are right, I was just using sRGB as a reference point for beginning to alter the setting if you get me.
The colours are more accurate at 100% brightness but after some use have found 100% brightness is just too bright really.
50-70% is fair game imo.

No issue with PWM flicker here either. Was worrying until turning down brightness can't see any problems on that front.

I'm wondering if I have the same monitor as you guys...

Do me a favour, open a white window. Now open a text file, put text in it size 72 like this:

TEST TEXT
OCUK

Now drag it horizontally and vertically about the screen. Tell me what it does, as mine looks absolutely terrible, the ghosting travels half the length of the screen!

I've just taken some video of it and once it syncs with Dropbox I'll try and grab a couple of frames to upload and show you.

:(

I think I will avoid doing this.

Not sure I would consider it normal use, and I am determined not to go looking for problems I might not notice in real use.

Unless there is something freakishly, horribly wrong with it, I am going to plod on, because I am a) sick of trying to buy a monitor that just works, b) tired of asking someone to wait around all day for a collection when DPD just decides not to bother

Umm looks the same as when i drag it on my dell 3014 IPS. Seems fine to me.

Just did the same on my second monitor and main 40 inch and both look fine.

You have put the WINDOWS monitor refresh rate to 60 right ?

Yep, I've checked that Windows (and the Nvidia driver control panel) are set to 60Hz

Connection - displayport
Brightness - 53
Contrast - 40
Sharpness 50
Smart response - off
Smart contrast - off
Gamma - 2.2
Plxel orbiting - off
Over scan - off
Colour temp - 6500k
Smart image - off

Are those the best settings we should be using? I'm not convinced that it isn't something that I haven't set correctly!

I just noticed it as I dragged a Window, I'm not trying to find obvious faults with the panel, it's probably me that has a setting wrong, so I was wondering what everyone else has set.
