The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

It's the Silverstone one here on Ocuk.

Decent for 67 quid. Though it needs to be off-center to get the monitor further back, and if centered you also need a lot of space behind desk due to its design.

Don't mind it being off centre as you can't really see it anyway with this screen.

Nice, would you mind measuring the distance from the front of the screen to the rearmost point of the monitor arm if you have a moment?

So the minimum distance the front of the screen could be from a wall if pushed back as far as possible.

Awsome! thanks

- btw so the monitor has a 24ms input lag; if I compare to what my current yamakasi catleap does (which I have no issues with fps games or fast movies etc) - is my catleap 8ms or 22ms? - cant figure it out (seems lots of panels use the LG screen but unsure what the actual lag is).

the lag wont be listed in the specs. the 8ms figure in the spec is for response time. I expect the Catleap has around 1 frame of lag too, most 27" models with scalers do

So badass, been going over your review a bit more.

Am I right in gathering that using the smart uniformity setting, I get to reduce the brightness without the screen enabling pwm?

If so, what does this setting do to achieve this uniformity?

Must say though, that contrast ratio of 5600 at 100 brightness has me tempted to just leave it there, but it can be a bit blinding :)

Just tried those settings on tftcentral...

Made viewing black text on white background a massive improvement.

In fact was just about to add to the thread that the negative impressions were starting to come through with this screen, in that text was harder to read in terms of clarity than on my old Dell U3011, those settings have made a good difference, not perfect but my eyes aren't burning and squinting now.

(I will add that my eyesight isn't top notch, I'd imagine that for most people with good eyes, these settings would bring text and whatnot into line with being very good).

Sorry for the triple post but just wanted to say that tftcentral review is of the absolute highest quality.

Thanks indeed, although a bit of a sour taste at the end where it lists the MSR of £689.99, I'll say no more on that but it really is an outstanding technical quality read and will mirrors exactly the the issues and qualities that I've personally and I'm sure others will have from the monitor.

Probs the best no nonsense monitor review I've come across for a long time.

Tried those settings, and everything looked a bit brown to me.

Tried the smart uniformity, and it seems to crush blacks a bit, and can't find a way to correct for that, so probably just going to go for standard.

the standard RGB 100,100,100 give cool tone. the setting from tftcentral is more warm.

I see, all subjective I suppose :)
Where is the "SmartUniformity" option though? Can't see it in the OSD

Anyone else finding the TFT Central settings a bit dull? I've got used to 100 brightness which doesn't help, but the picture now doesn't have any "pop" to it.
