The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

I've read these monitors use the same Skyworth panel that the el cheapo brand Seiki use, does that imply we're going to see far cheaper 40" monitors from other suppliers in the future?

Of course, panels always get cheaper over time. But this is a steal right now for the money imho.

What custom resolution did you use for that?

I tried setting mine to 3440 x 1440 and it looks fine on the desktop, but in BF4 everything is squashed up...looks horrible.

I had that too initially. Think it was a combination of using 1:1 pixel mapping, and scaling with gpu.

I have set it to wide on monitor, and do the scaling on gpu, because if I did the scaling on screen, it would then render hdmi inputs as a small box.

Ok been playing more games this week when I get the chance.

Today I had the pleasure of getting Thief and Murdered Soul in the Square Xmas mystery surprise for £4.99

Playing games that are dark is superb on this monitors. Something which the Dell 30 3014 cannot match at all.

Its a similar thing before when I used to watch movies on the IPS screen - I used to dread dark scenes as I could not see anything ( from a distance ). With this I can see all the dark scenes perfectly.

All I can say is long live 4K and soon to be 5K gaming.

I can only imagine Elite dangerous would look superb on this screen.

When this comes around the £500 ( when lots of retailers stock it) mark around end of jan-feb 2015 i will then buy this and sell my asus 27in IPS and wall mount with a swing arm attached to my desk so when not in computer use it can then be used for Xbox one gaming for the other half and TV in bed lol

this will save having separate tv and stand in bedroom now we have a 6 week old baby boy as need to make room for his crib .

yea i agree hes just teasing lol

we want more high res pics gaming and desktop real estate. someone post a video up on you tube,

I'm actually getting stoked for this screen but to expensive at minute. another retailer has it for £608 with a 1-3 month waiting.

Personally, I'm more than happy to wait. I'm going for three of these, so the cheaper I can get them, the better. In the mean time my 3x 27" 2560x1440 screens are great.

Click the links/images guys :D

I've tried, it takes me to a Yahoo page that's asking me to log in.

Ah right. Yeah, that's cause I made them pvt so they didn't show in my photo's list - emabrrassing that the only photos have managed to take for some time are of my screen :(

Will sort larger versions later and just stick them in spoilers.

Thanks for those photos ...

So how are FPS games like BF4 - you getting much ghosting or flicker or lag?

For motion, maybe it's placebo, but it feels better than the Sammy 32 inch I had. It's acceptable to me.

Lag as well, it's not enough to bother me if it's there.

Not getting any of the flickering that was present on the Sammy.
