The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

I think it's supposed to be inc. The prices have looked a bit odd where they've been listed, and the fact that they've now gone at the old price of £650~ suggests that £650 isn't the selling price.

The selling price is actually whatever the retailor decides they can sell it for.

We could list them at £500, or £999, it is completely our discretion.

Once we confirm stock and how many we are getting we will make them available but the last thing we want to do is put this up for sale, sell a few hundred and not be able to fulfil for three or so months due to lack of supply.

I'm aware of that, we were initially talking about suggested price (which influences selling price).

I commenting on the suggested price coming out lower than expected/rumoured, along side sites removing their prices who had it listed at the previous rumoured suggested price of £650 makes it look like the selling price will be around £550.

I'm aware that (though not in all instances, depending on contractual obligations) you can set the price to whatever you want.

I will say that I could hit £550 based on my buy price, but we'd be making peanuts and based on the huge short supply that when we do eventually get some stock we shall be looking around the £650 mark. Once stock improved I can see deals being done at £550 ish.

It's good to know that your buy price is low enough to hit £550 when supply picks up. I'd expect the buy price to drop to some degree over time too?

What sort of stock levels are available to you initially?

I'm quite confident that it won't be. Seems to be a tiny difference on a massive monitor that has been blown completely out of proportion.

Hugely! I've played with a few images in Photoshop, and stretched them by about 1.8% horizontally, and whilst it's noticeable comparing them, in isolation the images don't look funny or strange, and these are relatively small images.

It's 16mm over almost 900mm, it's really a massive non-issue, and if you're doing graphics work, just make sure you're working to measurements, and not eyeballing it and you'll have no problems.

I intend to get one (at least, more like 3) of these monitors to use for my graphics work.

Our cost won't change it's already supported by Philips so they'd only move price if they were not selling or decided to move price.

Also hitting £550 is very low margin so we'd only ever go so low if we had 100's in stock and wanted them to shift a bit quicker. Right now we might get 30 units so well be sticking to around £650

I finally got my monitor this evening, two failed delivery attempts (if you can call them that) meant I had to go get it myself... while I was doing that I got a flat tire :/

Here are some photos of it in action, it's pretty crazy when it's on my desk, ask any questions you like, I'll try to answer them.

Note, I've got to go to London tomorrow so won't be around till Friday.

Put me down for one of those 30 :)

From what I can gather, other than some lucky preorders from another store, these won't be available until after xmas.

Yeah as I said earlier in this tread Philips had shipped out 20pc elsewhere. :)

Working hard on Philips but its not easy work.

it look great. how is input lag on normal use ? when you move your mouse on desktop do you feel any lag of mouse movement ? or is it just smooth as normal monitor ? and Can you take a photo of monitor black background in total dark room ? much appreciate. Thank you

Looks like the connectors are on the left edge of the monitor so that the video cable sticks out of the side of the monitor. Not very good design.

It may not be clear in that picture, but there is actually a fair amount of space between the ports and the edge of the monitor. I agree it would have been preferable to have down-firing ports, but directing the cables downwards without unnecessary tension shouldn't be too difficult on this.
