The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

I can't confidently say what their exact policy is on new monitors other than the 14 day window for reporting(apparently used to be only 7 days). You may just have to ring them up after a few days and see how your claim is progressing.

Thank you and i will call them in a couple of days but they did say they would contact me straight back when they can escalate it for me and get the ball rolling. bottom line is i have informed them and i am under 14 days i guess.

It does look amazing though, got half of my LED lights installed under my desk and once i get a new monitor i will install a strip behind the rear and complete the led lighting effect.

To be honest some of the negative comments this has received are misleading as this is a very good monitor and people are reporting none existent issues or issues down to other things that are probably not related to the monitor at all or some setting they have incorrectly set in the menu.

So for anyone thinking about one and worried about Ghosting, i DO NOT experience Ghosting on my monitor. Whether that's because mine is running an AMD card or whatever all i can say is i HAVE NO GHOSTING AT ALL!

Overall i am happy with this purchase like the vast majority of Philips owners in here.

afternoon all big screeners. This monitor has caught my attention too. it would be perfect for all the graphical data work i do. can anyone be kind enough to recommnen a wall mount for it that can stand a max of 6 cm from the wall, and adjust ( height adj not important) in most directions. ive had a really good look but cant see the wood for the trees there is so much out thre. I would prefer a lighter mount than a heavier one. any help in judging something adequate forthe job would be much appreciated!

A 980ti will perform well on it. However there's no single card that will allow you to get maximum eye candy on all new aaa titles at high frames. Games a year or two old generally run very well though in my experience.

How did you guys manage to remove the protective foil from the front (see pic)? It's driving me nuts.

@gareth170

Do you still have issues with the dark stripe at the bottom of the screen when using SmartUniformity mode? I have the exact same problem. Did you RMA your monitor? I wonder if I was sent your device ;)

How are people comfortable sitting close to a 40 inch?

I must sit at least 5 foot from my 40 inch otherwise my eyes get very sore after 30 mins. It is a cheapo LED backlit tv. Can this specific cheap panel cause more eye fatigue than the 4K Philips one?

I sit 2 - 3 feet away and its fine for my eyes. Desktop space is mahoosive!

I have been running mine with an AMD 7950 MSi Twin Frozr overclocked to 1100 core / 1500mhz ram and to be fair its not asd bad FPS as i thought it would be.
For example Vindictus i can play 4k and good frame rate, Tomb Raider will do 28-30fps max detail with Tress FX off and NO AA.
I have found running the monitor at 2550x1440 is the best trade off and i get 45-55 FPS in tomb raider so not bad at all.

However i just ordered a 980 Ti Superclocked EVGA which is about 10% faster than reference 980ti once overclocked so i should see 50-60FPS in pretty much all my games.

Lets not forget DX12 is going to squeeze better performance out of our video cards and i also have a 3570k with onboard GPU on the Intel CPU which once games get optimised for using that i will see up to 5 FPS on top of what i am getting.

There is talk of using multi GPU like AMD / NVIDIAbut i am unsure how that will work but from the sounds of it you will be able to stick 2 none matching NVIDIA / AMD video cards and use them both without setting them up as SLI etc.

Exciting times and i love not having to use AA in my games anymore. :)

finally Philips are dragging their heels sorting out a replacement for me as they wanted to see photos of the box it came in to see if courier did the damages LMFAO yeah right!! The courier put dead pixels in the screen and dust behind the panel! lol

Hopefully i should hear about a replacement soon.

My eyes are slightly over two feet away from the screen, it's hardly any different than sitting in front of a 30" monitor - no eye strain, no issues at all.

It's standard procedure for Philips to check courier damage.

I'm back interested in this monitor while I wait for the 3800R. Could anyone kindly sum up the existing faults with this monitor please? I have read quite a few pages but am unsure which problems people are having thenselves or on the whole.

I think if I was upgrading my monitor a 27" DGM IPS-2701WPH then this would be the monitor, but I also like the look of some of the extra wide monitors as well.

Yeah I liked the look of them as well but was put off by the thought of IPS glow from the extra wide edges and reports of excessive backlight bleed on the models within my budget. So I got the Philips monitor instead.
