The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Hey guys been following this thread since release, I have this week finally took the plunge and bought the monitor after i convinced myself i would regret ordering something from Korea of ebay (uhd420 mango and 434k), managed to get one for £390 using bespoke offers and the 18% quidco deal that expires tonight at 00:00 if anyone else is looking for a bargain! I've been using a 47" lg 3d tv for the last 5 years as my main monitor (sitting around 5ft from it using a smaller island desk for my keyboard and mouse, I've grown rather fond of it but always was aware that the response times wouldn't be very good and its not ideal for long hours in the evening particularly. So i guessed this might be my best way back to using a true monitor as im unable to get pleasure out of my smaller sub 32" screens after using the 47". My first question is I have read that the dp cable provided is pretty short, could someone recommend a better 3rd party cable? i was looking at the cable matters 3m on amazon but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Secondly could anyone comment on how i will fare with a single gtx 970 msi 4g card, i imagine i would be better of with a second or even more so with a 980ti. Thridly and apologies if covered already: could someone elaborate on how well the monitor downscales in games to 1080p/1440p, also i plan continue using windows 7 ultimate, will i run into any trouble with the UI scaling on 7?

many thanks guys looking forward to sitting at a proper desk again and experiencing some 4k goodness! :)

I bet Phillips do know about these duffers, they just send them out knowing their faulty instead of chucking the panel in the skip, I used to be in qc, re regularly sneaked out stuff stuff we knew that was of poor quality, its just a numbers game really calculated risk, if I remember not much really came back

half the options are greyed out and the DDC/CI communication says NO!

i have a 980ti and it was working before i uninstalled the software. now it wont work.

Hey

just got one of these.
unfortunately looks like some dirt is between the lcd and back light :( horrible right in the middle.

also how do you enable 60hz?

It's on DP 1.2 and I'm using a biz link cable. But the obc information is saying 30hz and tells me to run 60hz.

my computer just says : max refresh 75
No setting to change it. Bloody amd

any help peeps?

EDIT:
I'm using a DP Cable from when DP was first introduced. Would this be the problem?
I just ordered a New one from The rainforest which is stated to work with 1.2 and also the reviews show that it does.
Was under a tenner so thought why not.

Also I contacted Phillips on the phone about the dirt under the screen, and they asked for a Photo and will be replacing the monitor.
(i got this from ebay at a £200 price reduction from new... so not a bad result)

Yes the cable needs to be DP1.2 compatible, the cable that comes with the monitor is dp 1.2

From what i have read, a DP Cables are the same.
1.1 or 1.2 cables are a myth?

or have i been fooled

good question, i'm not sure but from what i have read on this thread some cheap/old cables may not work with 60hz 4k. ofcourse it might be AMD settings though

Hello
Think I've made up my mind , but not sure on which g card is best for this monitor?
Could someone pleased recommend me one
Thank you

my 980ti plays most games at like 50+fps on ultra, GTA, The Crew, RocketLeague, BO2 flys over 100fps, BF4 with res scale at 100% and aa off is about 50-60

bump! any ideas? Portrait displays are working with me to get it sorted but so far they have asked me to install a update but that just changed it to "DDC/CI Communcation: No - SMSC OBIWAN API" but still doesnt' work.

Hi

anyone else had issues with the usb hub? mine was working fine for 2 days then today its not showing up at all, tried 3 different usb connection cables and several ports to no success, still outputs power but does not show up as a hub or allow usb inputs top be recognized or work. Im using windows 7 ultimate, have the monitor drivers installed also. Ive also looked in device manager and deactivated the setting allowing windows to power save on usb hubs.

any help would be appreciated!

cheers

i've not had this issue, i use a usb2.0 cable though as i didn't have a usb3.0 cable at the time.

Thanks for the reply, all the cables ive used are usb 2.0 cables too, really strange and annoying as it worked fine when i first set the monitor up for 2 days now today nothing only power from it! :/

just as i wrote this later the same day it stopped working for me and it said it was over capacity so i removed my rgb keyboard from it and now no more issues.

Ah mine still does not work no matter how many devices are connected, or the usb port it is connected too. guess ill try hooking it to another another computer to rule out it being a software issue, seems really odd since it worked perfectly the first time i plugged it in for a couple of days, and i was only using 1 xbox 360 controller and a logitech wireless keyboard dongle so pretty low powered. Also i seem to have developed a small dead pixel dot maybe 4 pixels together which is pretty small but annoying as i now know its there so notice it frequently, whats everyone's thoughts on dead pixels with this monitor? worth returning? or could i just end up with another one with them in a more obvious position?

cheers all

*Update*

Got the usb hub working again, bizarrely it works when placed in one of the front usb ports on the case, which is strange as im sure that is technically a hub itself? anyways its working lol

No, i dont have any USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard, im running a first gen i5 750 still going strong its been overclocked at 3.8ghz for 5 years lol. got a single 970gtx msi 4g which is doing arite also, struggles on 4k on most games, altho it plays everything maxed 1440p pretty good 50fps+. Could really do with a 980ti but im thinking i might just hold out for the next wave of cards.
