The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

@fezster & @Chaoss:

Were these outside the 14 day cut off period?

Reason I ask is mine has gone back to Philips, mine was 3 months old so I'm due a refurb or a repair, although I'd be quite happy with a repair to my unit as the screen had 0 defects.

Just got it, is huge and looks good, but I get pretty poor viewing angles? I sit about 70CM away and a good quarter of the screen on either side and at the bottom is noticably (staring at a white screen) more blue/brighter than the center/top of the screen... am I sitting too close/wrong angle or something or can this be fixed in settings? I have smart uniformity on and the ICC profile from TFT central for it...

Only if I move my head to within a few degrees in front of the affected area do they go to "normal"

As much as I don't want to send it back its already really bothering me!

Within 14 days, so a brand new replacement mate. Though initially they had my purchase date incorrect, and they were going to send a refurb, so lucky I asked the question.

I have a 4930k, with dual Titan's in SLI and I'm coming from an Asus VG248QE g-sync enabled monitor.

I want to buy this as the more I look into it the less I want to go down the superwide route; Aspect ratio support seems low, panel QC is poor.

I might switch between this and the G-sync for FPS games, as I know that the response rate of this can be a little slow; but I want it for Diablo 3, WoW, Fallout 4, Witcher 3 etc.

All of which the response rate doesn't matter as much.
Do you think my GPU's will be able to drive reasonable frame rates until Pascal next year on this panel?
Is it worth the £515 it's currently priced at?
Should I get a stand / wall mount for it?

(I have a corner desk)

No a lot you can do about that, you'll see similar effect on other screens under close scrutiny, also had it on my 27" Dell though to a lesser extent as it wasn't so big, the trick is not to look at big white screens :D

Dropping the brightness down reduces the effect a great deal, it is actually something I have forgotten about but now you mention it I see it slightly. I am at 50 for brightness and contrast.

I don't know, I didn't notice this at all on both my ASUS PQ287Q (28", TN, 4K) or my Hazro monitor (27", IPS, 1440p)... argh. I love the size and quality (the colours, contrast are amazing) but the shift is pretty bad... I shall try turning down the brightness, at 100 atm.

EDIT: Down to 75, still pretty noticable. It's not even upon trying too, its hard NOT to see the difference. It's actually more noticable at lower brightness levels unless I really lower it... goes away if I sit a LONG (2m) away.... ffs

I have tried all combinations of profiles, smart uniformity on/off, sRBG, 6500k... some are better than others but none are close to perfect.

EDIT 2: Looks like maybe its a contrast problem, not colour. The blacks in the middle/top are REALLY black, but at the bottom look much more washed out and grey...

Looks like my warranty request was approved.
They are coming to collect my Monitor with the tadpole sized dirt lump next week and take it for repair.
Unfortunately they don't have any in stock at their "repair" center so they will fix mine... weather that means they are going to actually replace it or take it apart and remove that dirt we will see. The monitor is perfect bar that dirt so i hope they repair it.

If it had no warranty i would have opened it up myself and blasted it with the compressor to remove the dirt lol

No one else notice a similar problem to me at all? I am unsure if its a problem with the monitor or if I am just "not used" to this monitor... I am very wary about the latter though, didnt notice anything like it on both my previous monitors as mentioned before.

Nah mate, just a little colour shift on mine

I think perhaps you have a different issue as mine is similar to that mentioned by whyscotty all I get is a tiny (really tiny) bit of colour shift in the corners on bright stuff really due to viewing angle when close, black is awesome every where.

Might RMA it... unsure... While its not "blindingly obvious", it is obvious, such that I showed it to my brother for the first time and he mentioned it within a few seconds....

I do think its contrast problems more so than colour shift.... although it could just be colour shift... I don't know, I just know its not right.

Is it possible to get 21:9 (2560x1080) with this philips monitor:confused: ? In the CCC GPU scaling is active and "maintain aspect ratio" but 2560x1080 is streched to fullscreen. Display mode is set to 1:1.
Maybe someone can help me.

Please could somebody measure the width of the stand and post it. Very tempted by this monitor, but want to ensure it'll fit on my desk!

Hello been looking at getting one of these for general stuff films tinternet and games then I thought why not get a 4k TV? And are they the same could I plug it intot pc with a really good g card?
Or is there something special about monitors that will only connect to pc's
