The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Since the preset colour temps on this monitor to me look either too cold or too warm I used a temp calculator to derive some other settings that can be dialed in manually:

The top line is the original calculator reference value, the second line is scaled and rounded to the 0-100 range of the monitor settings tab, both in R-G-B order.

1.060935 0.987132 0.936927 - 5500k
100 93 88

1.048963 0.988922 0.958849 - 5750k
99 93 90

1.038018 0.990426 0.979114 - 6000k
97 93 92

96 93 93 - 6250k (I seem to have lost the original reference values)

For me the 6000k settings are absolutely spot on and seem to give the most natural colours and an almost (still the minutest tadge warm) perfectly neutral white . Strongly suggest trying out this setting but YMMV.

Which vesa stand can you guys recommend? I want a normal desk mount stand not a wall mount. like a dell stand or something?

There is one posted in this thread somewhere.

EDIT Found it:

If all you need is a desk stand, then I just got one of these... very substantial despite it being for up to 23", there is loads of vertical movement for the 40" Philips, tilt and rotate (not high enough to put the monitor in portrait) and has allowed me to put the monitor 20mm from the desk which works for me.... it could go another 140mm higher too.

Both came with more screws than a hardware shop!

And all for less than £40 delivered next day

Thanks. Have you got a pic of this set up with the philips?

Also with the normal philips stand how far off the ground is the screen vs this VESA mount?

Thanks.

I ordered this monitor from Overclockers due to the black levels, and because the color is as close to the Oculus Rift (consumer model and DK2) as you can get on a monitor. The monitor is absolutely amazing and it's almost perfect, except mine has a worsening fault where the middle of the screen has some severe banding/dirt issues. I know that VA monitors do have this effect as my old BenQ BL3200PT had a similar issue but it was nowhere nearly as bad as this. The image looks sort of burn't or dirty.

You can only see the fault from mid-light grey down to very dark grey, but not on white and not on black or any of the primary colors.

I'm tempted to try to RMA the monitor but I will only accept a direct swap (on sight exchange/repair) as I can still use the monitor although it makes working on darker textures a bit of a headache and it is currently the only one I have. Here are some pics of the problem.

I've tried smart uniformity mode but this has not fixed it. I was playing the new horror game Soma (great game by the way!) and it was REALLY noticeable almost through the entire game.

What are my options?

edit: I can see the effect a little bit on this forum when in full screen. The effect has gotten worse the 2 weeks I've had this monitor.

Images over 1,280 pixels wide should be placed in spoiler tags as I've done for you.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. I am actually considering the benq 32" over the Philips. Good or bad decision??

Which Monitor has less lag for games? Or the same?

Hello
Been lurking here for a while wanting to to get a 4k monitor just to see what all the fuss is about, is the Phillips still the one to get?
Also not knowing anything about graphics cards which card would get the most out of this monitor?

Thank you very much

Thanks. Chaoss thinks it's no good due to lag as well. So in the end I ordered the Philips. My desk is 60cm deep and 180cm wide, hope its ok size wise.

Can you let us know how the lag is in windows and in games and if its a problem for you.

Im on the fence also with ordering this monitor ... thats the only thing that concerns me.
