*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I'm sure they said it's built into to the console via dedicated tech, so wont be left to devs to implement it (which most wouldnt). Maybe mapping controls is all thats needed.

Well if Vita support is going into all none Ps eye games then I'm buying a vita at the same time... the idea I can play my Ps4 games in bed with the console in the living room.. Yes please I'm sold on that.

A very useful feature, more useful then shouting xbox off, xbox on, xbox TV or jumping around being the controller..!! GT7 or whatever games naughty dog create whilst in bed or when the missus has the telly - yes please.

Same here, pretty much settled on picking up a Vita alongside the PS4 at launch. Hope they do a premium bundle including the Vita.

Would have been stupid of them not to mandate Vita support for the PS4 considering it is not much extra work for devs whilst giving a massive boost to the Vita.

That would be a great idea...

Buy PS4 + Vita all in one bundle.

So, a PS4 with PS Eye and move kit + PS Vita + game + PS+ Sub = sold. Shut up and take my money... I'd be throwing money at the screen, but nothing would happen as doubt they'll do a bundle like that. Would be to costly in one package.

But PS4 and then buy a Vita aftwards, might cost the same or more, but it wouldn't feel as expensive as you'd be splitting the cost...

On the PS4, Remote Play works by downscaling the 1080p video internally before passing it out over wi-fi to the Vita, which then returns controller inputs back over the same connection to the PS4.

There’s no penalty to developers, according to the report, so hopefully this rumour is indeed true and we’ll be able to play everything – Killzone Shadow Fall, DriveClub – on the Vita.

Well yeah I guess.

you're right, 10 years ago I was moving from 56K to 512 ADSL, then 5 years ago I moved to BE that was up to 20MB and now I've just signed with Virgin for 60MB so, in another 10 years could we see fixed lines of 120MB + ??

Quite possible to cloud game over that type of link..

The only problem you have there is that a massive % of the population don't have fibre broadband available in their area.

Most places near me are stuck at 5mb.

Yeah true, but then some of us are happy with using a believe it or not a 3G connection, 4G is now rolling out. 3G in a good cell area can net up to 7.2mbps which is quite amazing really.

It was reported 5G could stream a whole HD movie, its crazy so maybe a fixed line won't be needed. You'll need a wireless hotspot and a good 3/4/5G signal and pretty good compression and you're all sorted.

With the way tech goes forward, you never know what could happen. I'll be honest. I never thought I'd be streaming bbc iplayer video on a mobile phone via 3G sat in the pub 10 years ago, but only a few days ago I did just that.!!

problem with mobile broadband is costs, tethering issues and living in an area with a good signal and having the equipment to tether in the first place, a lot of people do not fit all the criteria, also mobile broadband has HUGE latency.

therefore fibre is the only real solution and again a lot of people cannot get access to that either.

VM already have 120MB and are trialling 200MB and 300MB, im pretty sure we will be hitting 500MB when the PS5 is launched, but again, you have to live in a cable area.

so unless in 10 years time they have improved latency and signal issues for mobile broadband greatly it wont be a viable option.

again cloud gaming is not something i like the sound of, much rather play the game in its full glory by having the physical data on the machine itself

Unsure if it'll be rolled out to the public, but there's 'world sims' that latch onto the strongest carrier for a better connection. Hope an alternative comes along my area all I can get is 1-3mb DSL.

Wondering what Sony decide to put behind the PS+ pay wall?

Maybe it's time for Sony to follow MS's suit and start charging for online services, it's a massive cash cow and hell Sony need the cash.

They couldnt get away with it before as just wasnt as good as gold, but dare a say has the potential to blow gold out of the water now.

I wouldnt complain too much for £60 a year, including everything MS gold does (online gaming / cross party chat etc) +

PS+ free games as it is now
Gakai - Access to PS3/PS2 games, every month a different set
Full share functionality / observing etc

Or maybe keep gaming / chat free and push PS+ with additions including Gakai and Share/Observing. Will be interesting to see how they implement it.

From that story earlier, about the Remote Play feature. I did spot the last line:
ORIGINAL STORY: A trusted PlayStation 4 developer source with a proven track record for accuracy has told Digital Foundry that Sony has mandated Vita Remote Play for all upcoming PS4 games - except those that require the use of its bundled stereoscopic camera, the PS4 Eye.

So I guess we can take it that the camera will be standard equipment. Which was my guess, seeing that the controllers had the move stuff built into them already.

^As far as I'm aware that was always the case. They said the camera would come with all units in the reveal conference.

This news about the Vita being mandatory is excellent. So far Sony seem to be saying all the right things. Whether they actually pull through with any of this is another matter, I'm still going to wait until more facts are known before I get too excited.

Sony would have to be complete idiots to throw away the momentum they gained against Mircrosoft, who seem hell bent on doing everything in their power to put gamers off.

You’d think that wouldn’t you. But the office where I work, I’m the only one that is agreeing that Sony are ticking a lot of boxes.

Good spec hardware that’s easy for developers to use, mandatory vita support, improved PSN game downloading, focus on games for gamers, none mandatory motion controlling, no requirements to be forced online every 24 hours and potentially second hand games can still be played. Not to mention the online services they do or will potentially be offering, such as back catalog streaming, movie and music services that do not interfere with the consoles main roots, gaming and you’d think many would agree, Sony seem to be making good design choices.

No, as they all have their xbox 360’s they are drooling over the xbox one. I must admit, I do like the look of forza 5, but some of the ideas MS have for the xbox one just make me go – erm why? Both will be good consoles, but at least have the good grace to agree that some of the ideas Sony have put together are good…

Had to laugh at one in the office, ooh xbox one can be turned on with voice command, can’t wait to get one, then pre ordered one. I’ll wait to buy either a xbox one or PS4, but I’m siding more towards the Sony system..

Only reason MS are get a drubbing PR wise is simply because the lack of games at a games console launch. That aside the rest of the features (if they work as they say they do) are amazing on top of the gaming side. It is some very cool tech, only mistake being it should have been a supplement (not sure right word) to gaming which their launch failed to get across.

My primary reason to purchase is for gaming, most spending that sort of money at launch will most likely be gamers. If both consoles performed similarly as gaming consoles, then XBones extra feature set could have been a deciding factor. As it is, that doesn't seem to be the case. E3 is where it will all be settled for the non fanboys.

I'll be honest and say that I think Nintendo and Sony are going in the right direction with Remote Play, via a Wii U Pad or Vita. The ability to free up the big telly and continue gaming on the small screen.

I don't get this MS box for everything. I don't think my family would be happy to share the telly with gaming at the same time. Assuming that the "snap" feature allows that.

I like this picture of cloud gaming.
