I like the hidden mic within the headset, I'm not expecting top of the range sound quality, mostly I'll be using my surround sound so these are for late night gaming or when baby/mrs is asleep, I like it how sonys first party studios (and hopefully others) are programming games soundtrack specifically targeting the hardware in these headsets

sounds like BS to me. all they could do is use an equaliser to suit a specific pair of headphones drivers, but from what I recall the sony headphones have an app that does this, so yeah sounds like BS marketing.

review on head fi says they are brilliant for the money, let me know how you get on with them. you certainly won't find a cheaper wireless surround sound setup anyway, that uses toslink, etc.
you may need to set up the headset a specific way by adjusting the ps4 optical out settings. i'll trust you a message or add a post to the official ps4 headset thread if you can't get it to work. e.g. i need to use dolby digital bitstream for my wireless mixamp 5.8, the other settings won't work.

Captain planet you will most likely require a ps4 chat cable for £4.99 from eBay. It may come with and use the 360 input on the monoprices with said cable.
So toslink/optical for game sounds and chat cable/ds4 for voice chat.
You have to do this for every wireless ps4 headset bar the ones that were lucky enough to get the proprietary USB to 3.5mm cable or those using the official Sony blue tooth headsets.
Chat cable can be bought off eBay using turtle beaches official store £4.99 delivered

Word of warning to anyone ordering the official witeless headset from Gamestop - i pre-ordered on march the 3rd and they still haven't got any stock. It is a great price and I already have a wireless headset, so I am keeping my pre-order since I am not really in any rush to get these. But anyone looking to get a set in the next few days, order elsewhere. At this rate, I will be happy to get mines by June!

Oh dear! Hasn't happened to me yet, I await with impending doom. How you finding it so far? I quite enjoyed my first hour or so, but I was quite drunk and I was quite distracted so couldn't really get into it.
I'm enjoying it. I enjoyed the first 2 games so I knew I'd like it.
No idea! Luckily it did it just after I'd done a really hard bit.

The rubber on the analogue sticks of both my controllers has degraded very badly... I bought the Orb DS4 covers and I am impressed

Managed to get my first proper Platinum trophy last night on Need for Speed.
