*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

It's been months since they hinted at 2-step verification on the PS3 firmware. I don't know what Sony are playing at. They are way behind with this.

I honestly thought this was something that was happening after it was found that the PS3 firmware made references to it.

I have long since removed my credit card /paypal account from PSN as I just keep on reading way too many stories on here and other forums about accounts being hacked and used to make purchases. Noxia I think it was had a heck of a time convincing Sony it wasn't him that make unauthorised purchases on his PSN account .

I just use Pre Paid PSN credit, my PS+ is up for renewal in September - this will be the first time in years I'll let my sub lapse, but that's the thing as if you leave a credit card on file, and forget to turn of auto top up for subs etc, Sony even charge for this and they refuse to refund - even if you didn't want to renew the sub.

Much as I love my Playstation, Sony are incredibly lax with their payment and security policies.

They desperately need 2FA. My Hong Kong PSN account gets password reset notices on a daily basis, and it's been hacked once already.

My Origin account was hacked a while back and I haven't got around to sorting it out yet.

I've got 2FA on Steam, UPlay, FB, Twitter, Google, my personal site, Microsoft accounts. I set up GoogleAuthenticator on my personal site in about 5 minutes, no excuse for anyone to not be using it now.

Maybe Sony are faffing about with a way of getting authentication via their own PSN app, like you do with Steam and Battle.net

Baffling mate. I have two factor on for Steam and xbox /Windows 10 /Google Store and its an essential level of extra protection IMO with so much now being purchased digitally and tied to user accounts.

I don't tend to buy much via xbox, this might change with cross play for xbox and Windows 10, but Steam and PSN I do buy a lot and I am comfortable leaving credit card details and money in my wallet for Steam due to steam guard and mobile authentication - but no way am I comfortable with doing this with PSN.

I have had wallet credit on my Steam account for months before spending, not a single chance I'd do that with PSN and their current security setup. I am truly baffled with it.

Is there an easy way to permanently delete a PSN account I no longer use.

I have a US psn that i created ages ago but want rid of it permanently.

Im guessing its a case of phone call/email?

There's a summer sale on the PS store. The prices are still mostly horrendous but a couple stood out for me - Dragon Age: Inquisition the whole thing £13 and This War of Mine £8.
