initialise the pro or my old/current PS4? will that do everything i need it to do for me to set up my new one?

If you have both consoles at the same time, you can transfer all your stuff via Ethernet cable from old to new. It may do all the initialising and deactivating for you on the old console. Not sure, never tried it.

Backup your data (if you're not a Plus user), initialise (format) the console and you're good to go. Takes quite a bit of time but will format everything and delete all the accounts. I did this a couple of days ago prior to ordering the white Pro/Destiny bundle (arrives tomorrow

Not that excited, actually, but it's nice I'll be able to dig into Yakuza 6 without tearing and fps drops
I'm also quite interested in Destiny 2, looks like a cool game and the bundled version even includes the season pass but I'm miffed that we still have to pay for basic online functionality:/
I can understand paid access to games and some extra features like cloud, sharing etc. but forcing people to pay just to play online is disgusting IMO.
I guess I can just use the 30-day Plus trial included and see whether I like it. If it's not worth it, I'll just flog the game.

Well in all my days! I just discovered that when I press the PS button on my DualShock 4, I can not only turn the console on but it will turn my TV on and change to the correct HDMI input too!

How on earth were you turning it all on before?
I turned the TV on first, changed the input and then switched the console on. The HDMI link was never enabled in the PS4 settings until I wondered what it did yesterday and tried it.

So, do I trade in my slim and original ps4 to take advantage of some of the good bundles at the moment (probably cost me about 80quid to upgrade to pro}, or do I wait until black Friday and run the risk that the trade in value drops as well as the ps4 pro price dropping...

For hdr and 4k I'd say so! Plus I'd be effectively refreshing my warranty. Just a question of timing...
