*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Bought a White PS4 Pro at the weekend which during gaming got pretty hot and distractingly loud from the fans. Don't know if this is typical but looking on YouTube etc it is either going to be loud or really loud. Was as loud if not more so than my 2 year old PS4 500GB. It's well vented in open space too.

Swapped for a slim and that is virtually silent in the same games no matter how long the session.

Pro graphics were noticeably better but no way could I live with the fan noise.
 
My Pro is pretty quiet most of the time, the only time the fans have ever been really obvious is when I've had the console running for a long time during an extended gaming session. I'm curious though, are the guys who have reported fan noise playing their games at low TV volume? I've only ever heard my Pro fans when I've had the sound down a bit lower for some late night gaming, otherwise the noise of the TV makes it inaudible. Or are they expecting whisper quiet operation? I personally have never had a problem with a console or PC making a bit of fan noise as long as it's only when gaming and not at idle.
 
Must also say that my Pro certainly isn’t noticeable, tv volume isn’t particularly loud, but neither is it quiet.
 
My pro is silent except at startup when it has an annoying noise coming from the disc drive but this always goes after a couple of minutes.
 
My pro is silent, until I play something like uncharted 4 or monster hunter. Then the fans ramp up. No more than a desktop pc though. :) which is perfectly acceptable
 
Anymore of these codes? They have been used. But nobody thanking posters!!!

I have come from an Xbox One S and have a new Pro bought January so persume it's the latest model.

Fans are much louder compared to the Xbox it is audible if you leave it on in the background and start to watch TV or use Netflix on it etc. Shame as that's the only issue I have coming from my Xbox. Everything else is perfect.
 
The loudest fans I've heard on a console was the first gen xbox's. They were like an aircraft about to take off lol.

I've got the first gen of ps4.. recently bought the ps4 pro. Both of them are quiet. I can hear the fans a little but thats normal considering all that its doing.
 
My pro sounds like a dyson sometimes, especially Fifa 18 when I go into negotiating transfers. Again not something that bothers me much, the only time I care for a quite device is if Im watching TV/movies.

The original XBox? Never owned one. But my 360 was the loudest thing on the planet, I'm sure of it. I can't imagine anything being louder.
 
hi all,

think my ps4 has died, it's strange - works sometimes and then the signal to the tv goes off, and the white light flashes in a continuous slow pulse. any ideas?
