Anyone else getting coil whine on their Pro? I have the latest revision, it started not long after purchase and has got progressively worse over time, to the point it's ruining the experience now it's so loud. A quick search shows that many others are suffering the same and after sending to Sony are getting them back the same or worse.

It's still in warranty but I don't really have the time for the hassle of being at home for a courier to swap it out etc, has anyone had to make a claim for this issue and if so was it fixed?

Thanks

I can't hear any coil whine on mine - fans are too loud! The PS4 I bought originally was pretty quiet but it stopped working, got a replacement under warranty and such a noticeable difference. Contemplating taking it apart and redoing thermal paste...

my sons ps4 pro is noisey as well, going from the normal one that broke to the pro made a huge difference in noise, thought it was just us lol.

Mines the newest revision so the fan noise is very low and controlled, which is pointless because I have mega coil whine instead which is worse IMO.

I've got the one from the D2 bundle and it only gets noisy in a couple of games but rather noticeably so.

The newer ones have quieter fans in echange for worse coil whine, apparently, as I've heard quite a lot of complaints about that.

No idea what "coil whine" is, and videos that apparently show the condition - just sound like fans to me!

So no, my Pro (original one) doesn't have coil whine, it has fan noise, when it gets hot - it sits on the other side of the living room albeit in a small cubbyhole in an ikea TV stand - so maybe not great for ventilation.

I only notice the fans after gaming for a few hours, and only certain titles - but I just turn the surround sound up a bit to compensate.

Exactly this.

It's like a buzzing/rattling 'squealing' type noise... not sure how else to explain it...

In that case, no, my original Pro has no such issues.

Out of interest, where does the "coil" part come from? Surely the fans have bearings?

It's nothing to do with the fans, its vibration from the electromagnetic coils / capacitors as the power flows through, or something like that...

Looks like EA Access is coming to PS4. IIRC, EA did mention about something launching on a major platform in their latest financial report.

Screenie from Brazilian PlayStation store.

The only thing is how do they make up for the lack of PS3 backwards compatibility? Things that they offer on Xbox like Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Dragon Age, Mass Effect won't be available. Does this mean a reduced monthly price? Or does it somehow tap into PS Now for streaming them?

What headset does everyone use for their PS4? The earpiece that comes with it is bloody massive and doesn't fit in my ear, my phone earphones don't have a built-in mic.

Missed this. Anything interesting in it?

As someone who isn't into VR, it was mostly tripe. :p Days Gone was the only interesting thing and perhaps Concrete Genie, the painting game. Mortal Kombat 11 looked good, the characters quite detailed but I've never been any good at brawlers.

I remember reading on here when the PS4 Pro first came out that some people were having problems with their TVs losing the signal every now and again due to the HDCP handshaking, particularly with LG and Samsung sets.

Has all that been sorted now on models from last year and/or firmware updates from Sony?

I'm thinking about getting a dirt cheap LG set for about £350 just so I can get 4K resolution and something to tide me over until HDMI 2.1 VRR, allthatjazz, etc. becomes more established in a few years time.
