It's been in the U.S for ages, they have been rolling it out world-wide over the last couple of months.

An ok that's why then. I've got a US PSN account, I did it that way to get acccess to cheaper games, so I've had that UI screen since PS5 launch 4 years ago

Well if these sell well we know the MSRP for PS6
You can't really say that though, this is the "enthusiast" model; Sony will want to subsidise the PS6 to promote people switching to it.

The biggest thing that will effect price i think, is how relevant Xbox is when the PS6 comes out.

To a degree, I agree. Sony usually take a hit with the console - with the plan to make back monies via Subscriptions and Games. However, there is a sense that Sony will be looking to at least break even going forward with consoles.
As much as everyone (sorry, not everyone) is whining about the cost of the 5 Pro, the sum of its parts says there is no massive profit being made here.

It's all gonna depend on what kind of Specs we're looking at on a console in 3yrs time.

Finally good to see a decent in depth ps5 vs ps5 pro comparison video from digital foundry.

To me the main take away is that the pro is essentially living up to it’s promise of letting you play ps5 games in fidelity mode at 60fps.

Don't think I'll even be considering a PS6.
PS5 has been by far the worst console I've ever had. I've played so few games on it.
I miss the PS1 and 2 days of gaming.

Probably back to PC for me.
That's what I've done. Skipped and built a PC last year after not seeing any games I'd play that I could get on PC or Switch.

It looks better at 4x zoom when played back at a quarter of normal speed, I'll give them that.

Haha so funny I give you that

There is a reason they do have to do that. Check out one of the YouTube channels who does comparisons without zooming, and you'll find ps5 and pc games look basically identical, but then when you play the game yourself you realise how much better the PC version looks, so why do they look the same on YouTube if you don't zoom in? It's because YouTube is **** and the videos are highly compressed

So, I've been out of the loop for quite a while, are you guys getting the Pro on release or holding out?

I'm still on the fence as as it feels like I'm being shafted a bit but it's also tempting because it turned out I've barely touched my PC for gaming in the last few months as I just spend more time playing from my couch and having more grunt to push consistent 60fps and maybe offset some bad ports and problematic engines like UE5 is a big thing for me.

If used properly, P(i)SS(e)R could be a potential game-changer, it's not as good as DLSS but a hell of a lot better than FSR and will do a lot of legwork in cleaning up the image while decreasing GPU load at the same time and allowing for more basic RT or effects and stuff.

Rebirth is actually transformative on the Pro because the performance mode was absolute dogwater on the base model and an absolute disgrace. GT7 is another big draw for me and I'm sure SH2, Wukong and AW2 will perform a lot better with PSSR and the additional grunt.

The thing is, I'm not sure how well devs will use that stuff further down the road and if it's really worth being an early adopter for.

Let's be honest, games like Ratchet or Spiderman do not need the extra power as they already look and run really good, even though you cannot really make any proper judgment from YT videos when it comes to imagine clarity in person (like, at all) but still. It's all down to the games that struggle like the above and future titles that might or might not utilise the new HW properly.

I might wait it out a bit as retailers in my country are even driving up the disc drive prices due to demand and it's getting preposterous.
