Scanning the thread to see if anyone already answered to no avail. I was going to get a ps5 no pro prior to the announcement. Would the non pro price be expected to drop or stay the same? Perhaps it might affect the resale market more?

I’m in no rush, I fancy getting one so I can finally use my Logitech g29 I bought before I sold my ps4 and moved to Xbox :/

The PS5 slim already dropped in price a huge amount since the pro was announced. It's £330-340 for the digital and £420-430 with the disc drive. Both about £40-50 less than pre Pro announcement. You might get some flash deal for Black Friday, but I would not expect it to go lower than these prices pre 2025.

Yeah, I've read it's the same width as the slim (but the same height as the original PS5). So presumably if it's compatible with the existing ps5 slim disc drive then the dimensions will be the same in terms of the width once the disc drive is added?

Just wondered if anyone knew for sure?

" ..... We kept the look of the PS5 Pro consistent with the overall PS5 family of products. You’ll notice the height is the same size as the original PS5, and the width is the same size as the current PS5 model to accommodate higher performance specs. Players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available."

No announcement about price cuts ; it's possible at Black Friday / Xmas but some regions eg. Asia have actually seen a price increase recently.

Thanks chaps. I’ll keep an eye on Black Friday and if nothing just pull the trigger.

We got our increase last year, while Asia did not. Until now. But retailers dropped the price back after a few months.

Black Friday will be a good time.

Sounds like a fair bit of work went into the remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn… I’m looking forward to it as I found the first game far, far, far superior to the second one.

https://blog.playstation.com/2024/1...remastered-a-deep-dive-into-its-enhancements/

I platinum'ed the original a long while back, unsure how much I would enjoy playing it again, does look nice though!

Forbidden West I finished the story but didn't finish all the side stuff, Im presuming this zero dawn remaster is bringing it up to the level of Forbidden West graphically or maybe even better?

Pricing wise I think it’s not unreasonable to assume that if a ps5 cost £480 iirc at release in 2020 then given inflation a ps6 will launch at £700-800 in 2028? I think that would be a fair assumption regardless of whether the ps5 pro existed or not?

The lack of competition from Xbox is a shame though as it’s giving Sony too much freedom to implement negative policies for consumers.

I think when the switch 2 releases next year it might give finally provide Sony with that much needed competition.
hope your right, as tbh if price keeps increasing pc gaming will become more justifiable for the mainstream, which tbh i dont mine being predominately a pc gamer last 30 plus years:D

I’m the same, platinum’ed the first one/expansion, whereas the second one was such an absolute slog to get through, along with the changes where Aloy fell to the ground at the merest touch and the dodge change. Come to think of it, I hope they haven’t changed the first to replicate that side of things too  !

I suspect it may still not quite be FW graphically as that surely would require a bit more work than they have in their budget.

Meanwhile, games like Bloodborne are just sitting there waiting to be remade and would net Sony literal billions of profit but yeah, let's do Horizon that didn't need it like at all:P It's still a great looking game and much better than the sequel in every regard except graphics. Oh yeah, let's do Days Gone as well while we're at it:D

Regarding the Pro, the money for it is sitting there but with each passing day I'm more inclined to just wait.

The situation in Poland is quite hilarious, Pros are literally available for preorder EVERYWHERE but the drives are either out of stock or sold at exorbitant prices nearing 30% of the price of the console itself.

I really want to get it but I guess my best bet is to avoid this whole circus for now and see how it actually performs when it comes to heat/noise and whether games that don't perform that well like SH2 and Wukong get any meaningful Pro enhancements.

There aren't even any major exclusives coming so I don't feel like I really NEED it on release but I might still change my mind, we'll see.

I'm so confused why this hasn't happened yet.

A PS5 remake and a PC version would make Sony so much money. Hell, if they did a PS5 Pro + Bloodborne Remaster for 1k I'm sure people would have lapped it up. Unless there's some sort of technical or IP based restriction stopping it from being done, it just doesn't make sense why we get 3 versions of some games & no remake of a game that is requested more than any other.

I'm baffled myself, believe me. Unless they're waiting to make it a PS6 launch title or something, I can't quite fathom what it could possibly be that is preventing them from greenlighting a remake. I mean, they have a literal golden egg sitting on their hands and refuse to act on it but we're getting all those remasters of still visually impressive games ad nauseam.

They could pour millions into the remake and still turn an easy profit, especially with a cross-platform release.

You'll have your PS6 release version of the Last of Us Part 1 and you'll be thankful, god dammit.

That’s one thing which does concern me as the PS4 Pro was so loud I could still hear the fans whilst wearing headphones! I like the console but the noise was really annoying whilst gaming.

Has anyone heard how the ps5 pro fares in terms of noise? None of the early feedback has mentioned it being an issue so presumably it’s no louder than the regular one?

The PS4 Pro was a jet engine but judging by the fact that the base PS4 itself was much louder than the PS5, I wouldn't worry too much. While not completely whisper-quiet, the PS5 is close to that and really unobtrusive so I don't expect the Pro to fare much worse but you never know, we have to wait for actual tests.

I decided to spend £700 on two PS5's instead, already bought one before so that's three I've bought now :D.

One for me two for friends. Anyone have recommendations for games to play together semi regularly, apart from FC25?

If the pro is using the same cooling fan/liquid metal technique as the base ps5 then I think the decibels will be roughly the same.
