All of my recent PS4/5 games have been digital, the only reason I want the drive is for playing 4K BluRay's. And the PS5 Pro has a 2TB SSD drive by default, so I won't need to expand that straight away. Whilst I still think the cost of the PS5 Pro is high at £700 it's not a problem for me at the moment, my PS5 will go to family and I have some parts to sell on Ebay which will cover most of the cost. But I'm also primarily a PC gamer and despite wanting 60FPS console games not sure when I'll get around to playing them, the last console game I played was HZD2, GoW2, FF16 and TLoU Pt1/Pt2 Remasters are still untouched.

Probably been said before, but for those not sure about splurging the full £700, using employee discount schemes to get vouchers/gift cards for retailers is a decent option to somewhat soften the blow. If anyone doesn't have this option I have such a voucher I'm not using.

I think I'll wait in the end and buy it when the sitaution with the disc drives stabilises. When official retailers drive up the prices by 200% and the drives are out of stock everywhere, then it's a sign to wait. I have quite a few physical games that I want to keep and I won't rebuy them digitally, that's for sure.

Apart from preordering a 700 quid console blind with no idea how well it performs hardware-wise and with the most problematic games without Pro enhacement announcements as of yet, the possible prospect of having to wait a couple of months to get a drive at retail is not something I find appealing:P

Hope to read some reassuring first-hand impressions from those who decided to preorder because I'm 100% getting one, just don't know when yet.

A common theme here is that those who have pre-ordered are desperate for the consoles to sell out to justify the purchase. Those who haven't pre-ordered are desperate for consoles to exist to justify not pre-ordering :p :D
Usual situation with anything tech-FOMO related now.

I'd love for us to get back to a stage where games/consoles/tech/phones etc. not selling out before release day doesn't instantly mean something has failed. Or games not having 1 million concurrent peak players means that it's a 'dead game', there's so much want for things to fail now.

Can’t see it selling out personally seems a very mediocre upgrade for such a high price.

I’ll wait for the PS6, to be fair as a whole I’ve been disappointed with the PS5 and game devs actually pushing it.

Not in the slightest. Was i annoyed at the price and that it didnt have a drive? Yes, deffo and it did make me think twice about purchasing. Then i thought, I have a 65" LG C3, its my main form of entertainment (I have a pc but not the same), My current PS5 is getting on for 4 years old, i can still sell and bundle a few games that i have on digital via other means and everything has gone up in price so why would this be different?

I dont care if it sells out, sells well or sells badly, i dont really need to justify the purchase at my age..

Having jumped back onto my PS5 I must say I am still very happy with it. I think it’ll easily get me to the PS6. Haven’t touched my Xbox and doubt I will, I’ll either play fps type games on my PC or any sofa games on my PS5. Doubt I’ll get the next Xbox. I’ll be all over the PS6 though!

Need to finish TLOU remake and then get onto Spiderman 2 and Astrobot.
