I completed it recently I held off The Last Of US Part 2 remake till the PS5 Pro arrives. It looked great and was a nice upgrade over the original. I cant see much Part2 will do to upgrade but i guess we will see.

Having jumped back onto my PS5 I must say I am still very happy with it. I think it’ll easily get me to the PS6. Haven’t touched my Xbox and doubt I will, I’ll either play fps type games on my PC or any sofa games on my PS5. Doubt I’ll get the next Xbox. I’ll be all over the PS6 though!

Need to finish TLOU remake and then get onto Spiderman 2 and Astrobot.
Similar thought process for me, too. I enjoy my PS5 for couch gaming ... it's my JRPG machine ( along with the Switch ) and many of those games are kinda designed for console and play well on it. Usually they aren't graphically intensive but have a strong visual style eg. Metaphor Refantazio. For games that are graphically intensive, have performance issues or better suited to mouse & keyboard eg. Black Myth Wukong, Dragon's Dogma 2, Baldur's Gate 3, I use my PC. Xbox is dead to me ... I just can't think of any reason to purchase/play any games on it. It offers nothing my PC or PS5 can't do. Yes, there is Game Pass, but I have a good idea which games will appeal to me and would prefer to focus on a handful of titles rather than having a smorgasbord of games I have no real interest in.

I'm considering upgrading to a PS5 Pro and giving my base PS5 to a friend. But if not for that I'd be happy to wait for a PS6. Will definitely get a Switch 2, but there is almost nothing Microsoft can do to tempt me to get the next Xbox.

I'm the same pretty much. I'll get the Switch 2 but stick to the Xbox Series X. These days I mainly use the Xbox for DVD/Blu-ray films and TV.

Pro enhancements for AW2 have been detailed, pretty much what I expected: Pro Performance mode runs at 60fps with old Quality mode IQ + increased detail and better volumetrics/shadows, new Quality mode is 30fps and throws transparent/opaque RT reflections into the mix. Both modes use PSSR so bye-bye FSR, I won't miss you. Hoped for a 40fps VRR mode in-between but what can you do.

There's a detailed blog post on Remedy outlining what they've done at a technical level but I doubt anyone's interested so just a heads-up:P

A lot can happen with the tech but it's safe to assume the Pro will just be a "Quality but at 60fps" machine with some new effects here and there, like the pretty impressive contact shadows in DeS that make stone walls looks even better than they already did + the added clarity from ditching FSR in favour of PSSR.

That's enough for me, now please tell me SH2 and Wukong and other UE5 titles will be significantly improved and I'm sold.

PS5 controller issue - I got a second hand controller 1 month ago off MM.

I don't have a dual charging station so tend to swap the cable whenever one of the controllers are low, when the PS5 is in rest mode to charge.
About 3 weeks ago the new controller died - tried rest button etc, wasn't recharging. Left it on the cable and it kind of woke up by itself. I only assumed that the battery went to zero and needed a boost to wake up.

It's been fine since- until now. Same thing has happened only this time it's not waking up. I've tried resetting, tried charging with various cables on the PS5 and direct mains plug nothing happens. It's not detected when connecting to the PC via USB cable.

What can I do?

I am playing the Alan Wake remaster now. Just finished Control for the first time so I’m having a bit of a Remedy fest. I will jump on AW2 when the Pro arrives.

@xaldub pretty much me too. Xbox is dead to me but I don’t have a PC anymore and I don’t care to. Switch and PS5 Pro for me all the way to a Switch 2 next year and a PS6 in another 3-4 years or so.

Playing AW1 as well, completed Control on PC with full-on RT a few years ago. Might replay if it gets a good Pro patch, especially that those games are part of the same universe (now:P)

Too bad the Pro still seems to be incapable of 60fps plus RT but that was kinda expected It's not only about the GPU when it comes to that and the CPU inside is still dog water, not much has changed apart from a rather insignificant core clock bump.

A few devs might be able to pull of some decent RT at 60fps, most likely as an exception to the rule, but as long as most games get improved framerates/run at 60fps without looking the screen is covered with vaseline (hello, Rebirth) and with more effects, I'm happy.

I especially hope the Pro will be able to bring Elden Ring at least closer to running at consistent 60fps but it's From so I won't hold my breath.

Anyone's PS5 controller ever bricked?

Only had stick drift on my og white one but the battery definitely doesn't last as well as the second red controller we got around the same time.

I have been looking at uprated battery packs on Amazon. Not terrible prices for around a 2.5x capacity boost. If you are happy taking a controller apart (plenty of guides available) then it might be an option.

For such an expensive controller they certainly cheap out on the battery, even new it barely lasts. I have to charge mine daily now.

Yeah definitely, I think we paid £40 for the extra controller but asking £60 for them new now is a joke, with no enhanced battery life or improvements to prevent stick drift.
