Is this some secret Very offer? I would have expected a lot more people on this forum to order it if it was 20% off at Very! That's enough of a discount to even buy the mythical stand and optical drive and still be below the official RRP.

It’s just the first order “welcome” code.

The code explicitly states can’t be used on ps5 consoles but it works on the pro and the accessories.

So I used it to buy every accessory I needed.

It's 6 days away and I paid a non refundable deposit of 160EUR. Can't cancel my purchase now, no matter how long an essay I read in this thread, regardless of how many acronyms are used in it.

I'll probably be crying on Friday when I can't see the difference from the original PS5, and then it dawns on me that i'm missing an optical drive, and my PS5 Pro falls over due to no stand.

This wasn't addressed to you or anyone in particular, you have a valid reason to get one, I'm just speaking for myself and I know every negative take about the Pro is bound to be frowned upon here as usual. If you haven't played a lot of the games and you got it at that price, then it's a good move. And if you don't know the technicalities of what you're paying for in this case, then all the better TBH:P

I just hope you're aware that dual air fryer can't read PS5 discs:P

My post is half in jest. At this late stage everyone's made up their mind whether to buy or not to buy on release day anyway.

p.s. I paid full price in Spain. It's the other guy who got the 20% discount and airfryer combo :p

I have absolutely no reason to buy a pro at all, I have a 4090 that I game on mainly but I still like to have a playstation for the "exclusives" that are now on pc and no new ones on the horizon.
It makes no sense but I like new hardware and will recoup a bit selling on ps5.

Since posting that the order declined. But received a call from very to go through security which was odd as it shows they were closed at 6pm.

Anyway finally received an order confirmation email so absolutely chuffed at the price I’ve paid. As I had spent over £800 for the same order at an other retailer!

If anyone is on the fence and not got a very account I think it’s well worth opening one to place the order. You can get buy now pay later for 12 months too.

It should have been £550 for this console to begin with. Or they should have made it £699 with stand, disc drive and edge controller!

My Premium sub just went out and I got points for it. So maybe that is fixed again? I thought I read you don’t get points for that anymore? Might have misread not sure.
 
@Amatsubu Reading your posts I don't think they're overly negative, all very valid points, people buy consoles for very different reasons. For me the PS5 is a great media player, although I prefer my ATV for streaming and the PS5 is used as a very capable 4K BluRay player. The argument for a console used to be the exclusives, but even that is a little weak now considering Sony are bringing their more popular games to PC (where's my Bloodborne) and generally the ports are very good (Nixxes being the best example of how to do it right).

With the Pro I get the best of both worlds, where there's a choice between a PC version of a game and a Pro release I will go with PC almost every time the exception being fighting and driving games, with games such as GoW/HZD where it's out months earlier on PS5 I will get the PS5 release, all the better if it's now Pro enhanced hopefully with higher framerates. I think there's more to come from the Pro down the line as the developers learn how to better utilise the hardware hopefully without detriment to the base PS5 players, but I suspect you may be right and we will see a lot of developers use the Pro and PSSR as a crutch much the same way you do with PC games and DLSS.

@AStaley I don't think I was that negative either, I just thought "The Pro isn't worth it now/yet" wouldn't cut it as an argument so I took a bit of time to articulate my points (all pretty valid I'd like to think myself) but since people are so opposed to "novels" here, I'll just shut up and wait for the stuff I want to see and then I'll buy it in a heartbeat IF it can deliver.
I looked hard for a reason to get it on release regardless but I'd have no games to play on it anyways since my favs I own physically and I can't get hold of a drive:cry:

If I was in the UK I would be cancelling any online order i had and changing to Very! I don't think they existed when I lived in the UK, but even if I had an account, how hard would it be to create a second one?

Even though it's a retailers discount/workaround we aren't gonna see the Pro at that price till at least 2026 imo!

@ChocAndGray deserves a huge shout-out and thanks! I'm still confused about the air fryer though.
