So I have had a good bit of time with the Pro and I love it. I don't think that the reviews do it justice as it affects a lot of games. One of them for example is BF2042, it now barely drops below its top resolution threshold which means when you are playing it (I play it a lot) the image looks loads cleaner and much more like the PC equivalent, even my mate mentioned that the witcher 3 has the same, again DRS in play and less scaling.

Dragon age is a huge step up in performance mode, so have been playing a lot of that and I will get a good play with everything this weekend so will report any further findings.

Also, fan noise. Success. There was a hum which was annoying me despite being low volume, I woke this morning and tried rubber o-rings, but no success, in fact more noise. But then I tried it without the covers and noticed it pretty much vanished, so I tried bending the cage top (metal part) which is just under the cover as I figured it must be some kind of amplification or resonance and hey presto its now virtually gone, certainly not an issue in the slightest anymore :-)
I created a new char in Dragon Age and started again on the PRO - was only 3 hours or so in. And yes indeed it looks incredible in performance mode and it’s buttery smooth as well. Can’t wait to give it a good go this weekend. I want to try out some other games but I can’t tear myself away from it. BF2042 interesting I will download that now then!

Guys, when lay horizontally with the Disc Drive add on, are those little plastic feet supposed to keep the console balanced, it just tips over for me lol. I'm propping up the far end with some padded foam atm, which is fine but should the plastic feet be doing the job?

Is that with the feet from the disk drive? As I think they're different from the ones supplied with the Pro.

Are you using the feet that were supplied with the disc drive and not the ones in the PS5 Pro box ?

Cheers guys, I didn't see these in the box. I'll double check, typical as I've put all the boxes up in storage. I got my drive used from CEX, so it's possible they are missing. I'll see if I can order some if that's the case.

How much were CEX charging for the drive? I stupidly forgot to ask when I was in my local one this AM.

One reviewer observed the same thing when trying to put it horizontally using the feet, shoddily done.

Kind of amusing that the Sony sales pitch was no more compromise between fidelity and performance modes, only to be greeted by Pro Performance and Pro Fidelity options!

Reading some comments for some games suggests the Pro perf modes, typically 1440p and upscaled to 4k with PSSR, look better then the Pro fidelity mode but the added benefit of running at 60fps!

Nope, That's CEX for you!
I tried searching the usual online sites this week for the disc drive, managed to get one from my local Asda earlier this week, which maybe worth checking.

DPD are delivering my PS5 Pro plus the new Mac Mini in about an hour :)

Cheers All

Re the stability of the console in horizontal mode. Make sure if you are using the drive you use the feet that come with the drive NOT the console. They are 2 different sizes. Mine went in and were nice and secure and the console is very stable.

Games I have tested so far:

Fortnite - can’t really notice any difference. Ran at close to 120fps most of the time anyway.
Silent Hill 2 - again can’t tell the difference. Not sure if the patch has installed but there are no new options as far as I can tell and panning about in the fidelity mode is still pretty jerky.
Ratchet and Clank - runs very very well even on the highest quality setting with RT. The game looks absolutely incredible!
Stellar Blade - wow even at the highest setting it runs about 60fps but the performance pro looks amazing and hits about 90fps.
The Last Of Us part 2 Remastered - again looks fantastic. The definition, the clarity and the smoothness are great. The lighting is top notch and the level of detail is amazing. Reflections on the water look really nice and adds to the depth of the game.

So far pretty great indeed.
