Despite having the pro for a week, my most played game is BLOPS6 on gamepass streaming via a browser on my PC . I only paid €10 for 1 month, just to see what Zombies is like these days, and now I'm a bit hooked. I'm tempted to either pay for 3 more months or gamepass or but BLOPS6 on PS5 Pro. It will definitely look better than the 1080p streamed version I'm playing, but for Zombies it won't be as big a deal as other modes.

My only hesitation is that I know after a few months I will be bored of playing zombies and I never play the other modes.

Haven't played COD for quite a few years now, any idea if the digital version would drop in price for black Friday, based on past years? If not it's £70 to play zombies for a few months!

If I recall correctly I believe MW3 was on sale during Black Friday last year but I think it was only about a £10 saving off full price on the PlayStation store.
Decent price cuts only tend to happen leading up to the release of the next CoD game.

Physical copies may be had for cheaper at retailers though, but I don’t do physical anymore so can’t really advise on past prices.

Just so you know there are some really annoying graphical glitches on blackops on the pro. Not sure what they are yet but loads of people including myself have noticed them. At first I thought it was the pro GPU going bad but apparently not. Switching to 120hz mode gets rid of the issue but you lose resolution and quality.

Here we go again... Granted this game was probably beyond saving anyways but it's another title where the Pro delivers worse image quality than the base console due to PSSR introducing crazy shimmering and instability. It's incredible that they managed to make it worse than FSR. It happens in AW2 and it happens in unpatched SH2 because it seems the game somehow forces PSSR and that results in super-shimmery relfections and other stuff.

Looks like PSSR has a long way to go, so far it only performs well when upscaling from 1440P and those games where that's the case have already looked pretty damn good considering.

Fingers crossed the tech gets better reasonably fast.

Didn’t we have similar issues with DLSS 1.0, overtime as the AI models get better we could see an improvement in image quality/performance, also as it’s still new the developers will get better at implementing it.

It works pretty well in dragon age as well, a lot better than base PS5 in performance mode at least. Still a crappy upscale resolution but far better than fsr.

Thanks. I would happily take the tenner. Waiting a week or so for black Friday based on this. I have the gamepass version till 12th Dec anyway.

It's better than nothing on such a newly released popular game. Knock off 10% by buying cheap cd keys as well.

@welshrat Veilguard has similar issues but less pronounced, iirc.

I reckon this is also why the SH2 patch is taking so long - they're most likely having trouble with the severe shimmering PSSR introduces in reflections and during certain conditions. Just a wild guess, though, and I hope I'm wrong.

It'll get better for sure but it'll take quite a bit, just like with DLSS.

I think DLSS also had some bad issues when it first launched, it took a while to get it to where it is now

I think its also a case of, FSR and DLSS have been around for so long now that all the big game engines have FSR and DLSS baked into them, but no game engines have PSSR baked in yet, so you can get quite a big variance on quality between titles depending on how much effort the developer took - what gives me more confidence about this theory is the quality difference between 1st and 3rd party, the games with the best PSSR implementations so far are 1st party games, which makes sense as Sony would be pushing them to do everything they can to make PSSR look good, where as 3rd party developers may not care at all

Got a new TV with some of these deals going on, crikey Stellar Blade looks absolutely stunning... Now to find a long cable to connect my PC and play wukong on the big boi :D
Aye. It looks fantastic. Thinking I’m near the end but it’s worth another play through.

Yeah, it absolutely had but it was also the first real foray into AI upscaling. This is introduced after DLSS, FSR and Inte's XeSS, on a console whose development reportedly started around PS5's release so I'd like to think devs we're at least clued in somewhat and Sony didn't just drop PSSR on them out of the blue.

This quality difference between 1st and 3rd party games is also no coincidence and confirms the pattern I mentioned before, in 90% of cases the best results are shown by titles upscaled from higher resolutions that have already looked and performed very well and, obviously, these are the Sony decided to show off first.

Both Horizons, for example, don't use PSSR at all, the devs went with their own upscaler.

There may be some issues but its miles better than the original PS5 version, so definitely not performing worse. must have put a good 30 hours in since the pro and its looked very good upscaling wise in performance mode, obviously a higher base res would have been better but that's more a dev issue.

Definitely a shame to see all those issues with Jedi Survivor, what a plagued journey that game has had since release. A huge shame considering it improves on every part of Fallen Order with the story, the combat, the boss fights etc. I played it back on PC when it first launched and it was an effort to get through all of the bugs/excessive stutters. A friend of mine (on a much higher end PC than mine) couldn't even complete the game as the final few missions would just consistently crash - and only a patch a few weeks later resolved it for him!

I do wonder if some of these titles shouldn't have rushed to release a Pro patch, instead letting the regular PS5 modes exist on the Pro initially meaning that Pro users get the benefit of significantly more stable framerates and consistently higher resolutions as a result of dynamic resolution. I think that's the reason why The Finals currently looks and plays so well on the Pro compared to the standard PS5, you get zero drops (and no stutter compared to the game on PC) and the actual image quality is noticeably a lot better.

Hopefully a PS5 Pro enhanced update doesn't break that too...

Jedi Survivor is really not that bad when you play it. There is a bit of shimmering but unless you are looking for it it’s not that bad. Otherwise the game runs and looks great.
