Right, getting fed up not being able to get a 3080 any time soon, maybe I will look out for a PS5.

One question, I have a 1400p 144hz monitor, will the PS5 work if plugged in to this monitor as I hear it is 4k only?

I did a google and it seem mixed whether the PS5 will work at 1440p.

Not officially supported, but then some people are reporting it can work.

I have a Dell S2716DG monitor which supports: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2

Some 1440p monitors can accept a 4k input, I have a 3440x1440 ultrawide which accepts a full 4k output from the PS5. Checking yours, its hdmi 1.4 and doesn't look to accept 4k, so you'll get a 1080p (possibly at 120hz if it supports this over hdmi) upscaled to 1440p by the monitor.

PS5 100% does not output at 1440p.
To add to this I've got a Benq EX2780Q which is a 27" 1440p 144Hz monitor that does work with the Xbox natively at 1440p @ 120Hz and will accept a 4K @ 60Hz signal from the PS5 (& Xbox).

Broken pad (R2 trigger) sent back to Sony.

Allegedly they don't fix them, they'll just send me a brand new one.

Could take 4 weeks - glad I managed to get another one ready to go.

Likely...

Haven't played Valhalla but Immortals is brilliant.

Got up this morning and wanted to play it again immediately, haven't had that feeling in years.

My r2 has gone loose. Only takes a slight touch to activate which isnt good in shooting games. Unboxed my 2nd pas which came from the bundle from shopto but want this one replacing. Did you ring Sony or raise a ticket?

Square started to go sticky, gosh. Abit of specialist quick drying WD 40 sorted. Only issues I ever had with PS controller's were the crappy USB micro ports.

Yeah, same issue I had.

Ring Sony support, try just before 10:30 to get into the queue system quicker.

Due to loading up with some SP games from the PS Collection and the Jan sale it looks like I need to add an external HDD! I know some had issues early on, don't know if they were PS5 software of HDD hardware related, but what would you guys recommend? Size, type (SATA or SSD) and manufacturer?

Well the fastest solution would be a NVMe enclosure and SSD.

That company was a crock of S. 10 days old flogging 'custom' ps5s. Stock they no doubt didnt have, I cant believe the games media latched on to them as if they could be trusted.
Pretty much this, they either didn't have the stock or they (surely) used bots to gain enough consoles to fulfil orders, either way it was never going to go well.

Their claim of 'the team began receiving credible threats to their safety' is all very dramatic, who would make such threats and why? Sony are not shy of being public about infringements, they've probably made this up because they simply cannot fulfil orders.

same monitor here and using it with ps5 with the ps5 genuine hdmi cable :) it doesnt do 1440p or 120hz or 144hz..just normal 1080p 60hz :) hope this helps

I use a 1TB SATA Crucial MX500 SSD in an enclosure for mine, seems to work well. NVMe drives won't really offer any performance benefits as far as PS4 games are concerned so it's probably not worth paying more for one.

So it does need to be an SSD rather than a standard 7200rpm SATA?
External expansion? No - anything you like, so long as it's USB 3.
An SSD will have better loading times, however not at the maximum capability of SSD - they are still restricted by how fast the console wants these things to load. Remember the games were coded for use on a PS4 with 5400rpm HDD.
