HDMI cables can and do fail, don't rule it out yet. Try a different HDMI port on your TV too.

Where did you buy it from? Stock is fairly readily-available these days so I'd just get it returned and replaced by the retailer.

Sony have released a Pro console for literally o
I just want a PS5 slim. Don't care about a pro version. Current PS5 is just massive and it looks awful as well. Slim ps5 that looks similar to ps4 would do me for the generation.
Something that small is never going to happen unless they want to compromise the cooling.

I'll swap out the HDMI cable, hopefully it's that simple.

I bought the console from Game back in May 2021 so returning to them is no longer an option I believe.

Many thanks for the feedback.

I agree that it's big and rather ugly. I have one but it's not exactly a looker and most people seem to think that way so you're not alone here:P

They could make a Slim if they really wanted to but will they? Not sure. I guess some people here haven't seen how tiny the latest rev mobo and heatsink are. Lots of empty space inside and looking at the airflow, it'd be possible to make a significantly smaller console without compromising cooling performance. How much smaller, I'm not sure, but it's doable.

It sold 7.1million units in the last 3 months

Is console wars still a thing?
Yeah have a look on twitter :) I have xbox series x and ps5 no fan boy to either but since I got the PS5 again not touched the Xbox. Games just run better on the PS5 for some reason.

Judging by Reddit posts there is. I own both the PS5 and Series X, and would like both to do well. However, in the UK alone, PS5 sales rose 300% last month. That's impressive, and I do fear Xbox could be left trailing if Sony continue to post sales like that. Xbox really needs the likes of Starfield, Redfall and Forza Motorsport to land big. If not ...

You need healthy competition to drive industry on.
People seem to still froth at the mouth when you mention either console. Twitter is awful for it.
These forms used to be good crack lol

Fortunately a fair few of the trolls in here seem to have either grown-up or found a new hobby, they were relentless for a while.

When did ask your PS5 to do somwething get released? Just saw it in settings.

Since last year sometime at least, but they seem to have added some additional functionality with the latest update. I've never tried it though.

Who is "they"?

"They" seems to be responsible for a lot of baseless speculation and 'facts' and figures pulled* out of people's backsides.

Ugh.

I've been carful with my pro pad but noticed it's starting to stain discolour around wear my hand make contact.

Even tried IPA to remove it to no luck.

The joys of a white textured controll pad.

There is still zero talk of a PS5 Pro from anybody except the usual clickbait links - still the overall consensus being it just isn't needed.

There is also no real indication that the model refresh this year is going to be "slim". The main reason for it is detachable optical drive, which means every single PS5 (Disc or Digital) can now be made on the same production line, which is massive as every unit that leaves the production line can be a digital or disc version. But even those that are "close to that rumour" are not saying it's a slim revision.
There is a need for it since the PS5 can't do 4K 120 FPS on most games. The problem is GPU technology hasn't progressed in performance per dollar since 2020, mainly due to Nvidia and AMD greed. There won't be enough demand for an ultra expensive £1k console.

You could try a bit of CIF cream. (I use it on one of the printers at work, to get toner stains out)
