The ps5 is plenty powerful enough.
There's a big difference from 1440p to 4K and 60fps to 120fps. Beyond 4K and 120fps you start to get diminishing returns. PS5 is powerful sure, but powerful enough definitely not. 4K 120fps is where a PS5 Pro would have slotted in nicely between a PS5 and PS6 if GPU technology had progressed in performance per dollar.

If you want that sort of performance, I don’t know what to tell you..consider a pc maybe? :D

Ps5 pro is no way putting out 4K 120 on anything demanding. I think a theoretical ps6 is even going to struggle.

How many games are designed for 120fps, and what percentage of TVs out there actually support 120fps?

Still seems a niche. Personally just happy to see everything playing flawlessly at 4K/60fps this "generation"

If you polled it I doubt the majority of people would know what 120hz HDMI 2.1 even is. Niche at best.
Indeed. 120fps will not be the norm for a long time yet.

They’re struggling with 60fps at the moment with a fair few games not even current gen.

Edit : I think ps6 may crack 4K 60fps, but 120?? For every game ? Not a chance.

Agree, don't forget the craziness of the speculation for PS5 though, "games will all be native 4k 60/120!!!!!" turns out that was for a small %, let's not even get started on the 8K logo on the box  Oh I think "as powerful as a 3080" may have been flung around too.

You only have to see the **** state of these titles on PC to know it's unlikely to happen on console.

Aye. Maybe not this gen…but next gen ? With cerny at the helm of design ? We could see something special, PlayStation wise. He cracked the memory bottleneck.

The way things are going, next gen consoles may be the only way for the majority to be able to afford to play some titles at 4k too.
Agreed. The ps5 is fantastically built, and for what you get @ the price you pay is undeniably excellent.

The ps6 will only build upon that. While I don’t think 120fps will be the norm for a long time…4K 60 is not far off. (If they stop pushing bells and whistles)

It's not the norm on PC either, for AAA games, if DLSS is used then it is not 'true' 4k (same way some PCMR types like to poopoo chequerboarding). I do believe however this is down to lazy devs using those things as a crutch.

Yup. Thankfully being a “closed” system with specs that cannot be changed, the devs can eke out every last little bit of power.

Hopefully the coming gen will see proper 4K and 60fps.

Honestly, I cannot and will not play 30 anymore. Not just out of principle, but because it just feels so damn sluggish.

120fps is a pipe dream as the PS5 already struggles with 60fps in a fair few games. I only use 120hz for 40fps modes which are miles better than 30fps if the game has problems with 60fps or visual sacrifices are just too big for my taste.

That I can touch, but 30fps, no way in hell.

One of the major reasons I never got into BOTW, I mean a game that dips in to the 20s is unplayable to me. Can't openly discuss but playing it via other means and suddenly it was enjoyable-ish (other than being bland).

I'm happy with 60fps and upscaled 4k but I want graphics technology to move on.
With ue5 going to be coming in, I think ps5 games will be back down to 30fps, that would make a pro version viable to me to get 60fps back at upscaled 4k.

There won't be one this generation due to costs sky rocketing.

Botw was a struggle, at that low fps. For sure. Nintendo need to release some new hardware that is BC…it needs to be BC. But knowing them, they’ll spin some BS and make you rebuy everything for their current machine.

I also don't feel like I need more than 60fps in anything, it's just smooth enough for me, just make every game run at that framerate and I'm set:p

Ideally, I'd be happy with solid RT at 60fps even with upscaled res, PS6 maybe.

Am I imagining it or did today's update add a little clock icon with total playtime on the main menu, when you hover over each game?!?!?!

Even seems to show for games played on PS4 and PS5 combined.
RDR2 142 hours!!!
