I never did finish the first Spiderman, could I skip it and go straight to SP2 or does it look like its a continuation of the story from SP1?

In the mean time I might give Miles Morales a go.

Didn't think about the PS5 upgrade, I played it last on PS4, will give it a go at weekend then, I remember enjoying it, just got a little bored I think, or perhaps other stuff took my attention away.

I think I actually own SP1, will have to check, would that give me the ps5 upgrade for free, if I purchased it on PS4?

Sadly not. Not sure if the situation has changed but the PS5 upgraded one came with the ult version of MM. Have a check on the store to see what’s available for you.
 
Just a PSA but for anyone looking for a m.2 drive, don't buy the PlayStation branded SN850. As it's a bit of a con as they are just rebranding old stock SN850 which is slower than the updated SN850X yet charging getting on twice as much for it...

1TB Sony branded SN850 with heatsink £115 R:7000MB/s W:5300MB/s
2TB unbranded SN850X with heatsink £130 R:7300MB/s W:6600MB/s (1TB model 6300MB/s Read)

The previously announced standalone PS5 version of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is now available on the PlayStation Store.

As I reported earlier this week, those who already own any of the original PS4 versions of the game will be able to upgrade to the remastered PS5 version for $10. Meanwhile, if you are buying the game for the first time, it will set you back £49.99/$49.99.

As a reminder, those PlayStation Plus members who claimed any edition of Marvel's Spider-Man via their subscription are not eligible for the PS5 upgrade.
