The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

I'm a little concerned too about that. Sunshine was great but the 3rd act let it down. In the same way that the 3rd act of Event Horizon was a let down. A lone "crazy" running about causing havoc just doesn't appeal. People want aliens, even if we can't see them, we want aliens!!!

I think the humans could mutate into what we see as the space jockey race.

The trailer shows rapace character all bloodied and falls to the floor, in the room there's a bald man sitting in a wheel chair not looking very human like, perhaps a crew member in a stage of change?

I think the mutation might send people crazy.

Im a bit miffed there is any kind of human 'baddy'. I was hoping it would be the ship crew vs whatever they find alien wise. I really hope it dosent turn into Sunshine where an awesome story/movie is basically all about a crazed crew member killing everyone. Yawn.

Sunshine is a a great movie. in fact when i think about it what was sunshine ever going to be about apart from that one crazed human. ridley scott isnt going to turn the movie into a box office muncher, he knows what the alien franchise is, what it means and the basis of what would bring such events about. i love star trek but even i can see how the klingon form is flawed for an alian counterpart:p

really?, it wasn't about a lone crazy, that wasn't the point, the effect on a single person and the impact that person could have single handed on a constricted collection of people was the point, that's where the psychology came in.

you really sold them short, great movies if you let them play the way they are meant!

You should watch it again, I thought the exact same before but when I watched it again the last 3rd was perfect.

Everyone keeps saying that the ship is the derelict in the first alien. It very well could be but isnt this based 35 years before alien? If so then the space jocky in alien was fosilised. That takes hundreds of thousands of years although saying that the atmosphere of the planet could speed it up.

I guess its a case of wait and see. Cant wait till its out

I have to say I did wonder if the crashing ship was the same one. I suspect it probably is but it had occured to me that showing the ship crashing was a bit of a big giveaway to the storyline - seems a high card to play early in the game if you know what I mean (to see that happen with no previous knowledge that this crashing scene was in the film would really make the whole thing stand out)

The guys at AVPG are pretty sure it's not the same ship as the derelict we see crashing, check out this link and they give a few explanations.

I heard a nasty rumour about a black hole and time travel, so this could explain......

I just watched IGNs rewind of the trailer where 2 of the editors talk about it and oh my god they say that the planet is lv426 and wonder how its going to become the barren wasteland it is in alien

Even that link that was posted mentions about the aliens being created in the film.

My theory is that they find the space jockeys. Something bad happens ect ect and they don't even encounter the aliens or maybe they see designs for it. I think the only thing tying the 2 films together will be the fact that the race that was piloting the derelict in alien is the same race they encounter in this film.
I don't think that they will go to LV426 or see the derelict. Well at least I hope not anyway

If this doesnt make much sense its because I have been up since 2am :(

I dont know how people can say it's not the same ship when it crashes and seems to come to rest exactly how we see it in Alien.
Whats interesting to me is how the eggs come to be there, unless the Nostromo crew find a different section of the ship housing them, i have a feeling that the Prometheus crew are somehow responsible for creating them.

I'd even go so far as to say the Prometheus is deliberately crashed into the Derelict to stop it landing/taking off as the crew have discovered what it's intention is.

The title Prometheus itself is enough to give away the overall outline of the story. Humans steal fire from the gods, bad consequences etc.

Are you sure?

In the AVP movies did they not say that the pred's have been hunting the aliens for thousands of years?
