The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

what year was alien set in? isnt guy pearce in prometheus an android that looks like weyland??

Prometheus is based in the "distant future"...however the viral vid is supposed to be from 2023 and Weyland is talking about nano-tech, fusion, fission as though they are all common place technologies. He then mentions cybernetic individuals which will shortly be indistinguishable from humans.

Just feels like too big a tech leap for just 11 years.

Don't get me wrong, i'm going to love this movie, just the "tech" speech bugged me a little.

It's a little far-fetched, but then that's near-future sci-fi most of the time.

Alien is set in 2122 IIRC, so 99 year gap for stuff to happen in.

Intresting little vid. Apparently laser fusion is only a year or two away so I believe some of his predictions. Maybe not the androids though.

I am really looking forward to seeing this, probably won't watch it live due to time difference and work commitments :D

Preview of a bloody trailer? come on this is silly! We dont need another trailer anyway, so much has been gleaned from the first one that we are in danger of knowing what happens before we see it! Save the trailer, release the movie!
