The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

Anything less than an 18 and it'll be a shame. Alien films are always about blood, guts and violence.

I love it when people post comments like this. As someone else already said, do you really think Alien would get an 18 rating today?

TBH, I'm not sure Aliens would either.

Film makers can get away with a lot more violence and gore in a 15 rated film nowadays, than they would have done 20 years ago.

Some quotes from Fox's CEO Tom Rothman.

"I can assure the fans absolutely they can take it that the film will not be compromised either way". "So if that means that the film is R, then it’ll be an R. If it’s PG-13, then it’ll be a PG-13. But it will not be compromised."

What the hell does that mean, and what is the point in saying it?

PG-13 is a compromise!!!

Not if it actually deserves a PG-13....that's what he's saying. Of course, you would think he would actually know what rating it should be this close to release.

No way would Alien and Aliens be rated 18/R this days.

Wasn't sure whether I'd go and see this at the cinema or just wait for the Blu Ray but just signed up to the Odeon's Premier Club so they better be showing this in 2D!! When I booked my tickets for Avengers back at the start of April though they were only doing 3D showings initially and then nearer the time the 2D one were available for booking as well so hoping the same here...

Damn right this should be an R and I flippin hope its an 18 over here, this is an 'Alien-esque' sci-fi horror ffs, the last thing I want is a bunch of noisey kids in the cinema when this is released.

I know the studio's have to make their money back and these days its easier to just cut loadsa bits out of movies like a patchwork quilt to get their lower rating and more tickets sold but I dont want a bunch of giggly snotty noised children watching Prometheus because they have just turned 15 and can get in.

Give the movie the rating it deserves I say.

Alien when released was an 18 here. If released now it would be no more than a 15 I think.

No way, it was rated an 18 back in 1979, christ now the world is even more pink and fluffy than ever before.

Youre telling me the shear suspense and horror in Alien along with the chest bursting scene would get it a 15 today, not even close.

They dont want peoples delicate little minds affected by shocking imagery these days.

Alien would not be an 18 now. Scary and gory doesn't really equal an 18 rating these days. You need hard-hitting violence that's more based on realism now. Something like Robocop would probably still be an 18. I saw both films when I was a nipper and Alien scared the poop outta me (in a good way) whereas Robocop genuinely disturbed me.

Wasn't one of the Star Trek films (Wrath of Khan) a 15 in Britain? :p

It won't be an 18. The first Alien film would be a 15 if it were released today.

You basically need to create a Saw film or some other kind of torture porn to get an 18 rating these days.

I bet my right testicle that this film makes it to a 15 rating with zero cuts.

It's going to be pretty awesome to see chestbursting etc in full 3d. That's gonna make a lot of people jump I bet!

Prepare to be disappointed as there are no chestbursters or actual aliens as we know them in this movie.

It's a prequel but we won't see any actual 'Alien' aliens in this, except the Jockey, we will however see something a lot more awesome i'm hoping :D

For such a big movie they must have 2d screens up, i don't see why they would force everyone to wear stupid glasses and watch a layered 2d. But my local VUE is 3d only on release date.

It is for £££. Getting people to pay more for tickets.
