The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

If it was only available in 3D, I would have personally phoned Ridley, and hurled harsh language at him. Assuming I could get his number that is. :D

I can't view films in 3D. It has crossed my mind, what if 3D doesn't fizzle out? What if it gets to the point where 3D films will be the norm, and 2D films are only a few here and there. I guess they would go with that, if it meant plenty of cash raking in. Would be interesting to know what % of people that go to see films, can't see the 3D effect.

If I recall (from the Prometheus Facebook and Twitter feeds) the 2D version will follow on General Release about 2 to 3 weeks after the 3D release!!

If that happens I will be seriously fing hacked off! :(

I guess I will just need to wait however long it takes because I refuse to watch it in 3d.

I will watch 3d if it a) comes without the glasses b) becomes the norm for TV's as well. Up until that point I will just avoid anything that is 3d only and I just expect the whole thing to be a fad until they have the technology to support it without stupid blinking glasses.

Well I hope it hurts their opening numbers and they don't do it again. There's not one within 60 miles of me in 2D. I'll wait that's fine, I hate 3D not because I can't see it, just find it irritating and pointless.

I wouldn't care if the Prometheus premiere was shown on a screen smeared with dog muck, i'd still be there to watch it.

Don't get the hate for 3D on this movie and am yet to hear a convincing argument against it for this particular movie.

Just booked my tickets for the imax 3d showing for the 10th, quite looking forward to it, but will have to dodge spoliers for a while!

I've had to blank my favorite Prometheus news websites over the last few days as more and more spoilers are emerging from the TV spots, i'm trying to avoid everything until June 1st.

Tell me about it - just stay away from all film websites imo.

It's funny because in the space of a week i've gone from reading and watching absolutely everything about Prometheus to blanking it all. There are far too many spoilers and too much being shown in the trailers now for my liking.

Oh well, only 7 days and 18'ish hours left til I see it :)

Exactly. Why can't people treat these films as individual projects rather than jumping on the "omg remakes r bad mmkay!!!" bandwagon?

Granted I'd rather see more original content and there are a lot of examples of bad prequels, re-imaginings, etc. but it gets tiring seeing the same faux cynicism crop up every single time.

Because they are used to harry potter and lord of the rings where the films are not films in themselves. lol

I dont go to the cinema to watch half a film. Each film should have a beginning, middle and end and be self contained. I will watch this film because I would like to watch it. Nothing more, nothing less. I loved Aliens one and two as individual films. Neither film requeires you to watch both to enjoy them. And the ones that were bad doesnt ruin anything for me.

Following not directed at the quote above

If you dont want to watch it then dont but I will certainly be going to watch this when it comes out. Then I will be able to give an objective view rather than speculating on a film based purely on another film related to the same film universe.

If that logic was applied to every movie we would have very little to watch lol
