The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

I had heard rumours they were holding back on the 2D so the 3D gets more sales.

It's because Ridley wants it that way, he envisioned it in 3D and wants people to see it in 3D, that's why they are holding back the 2D screenings in some places. It's not just for higher sales although that will factor into it.

With this movie so imminent and the amount of reviews since the french press screenings yesterday, is anyone else scared to read anything even remotely Prometheus related for fear of spoilers?

Even Wiki has the full plot now...

(you have been warned) ;)

I've already watched Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 (DC - a massive improvement over the theatical!) and (Shudder) Alien R, AVP and AVPR over the past 2 weeks..

I'm now going to rewatch Alien on Wednesday in full prep for Thursday night :D

I'm in Canada so its being released in the States/Canada 1 week after its out in Europe, which doesn't make much sense. I'm not checking a damn thing from the next 2 weeks starting now.. :(

Hmm...

Booked online on my iPhone for Cineworld but didn't let me choose my seats :( if I get shafted with **** seats I will not be a happy bunny! :(

We have a Cineworld in the centre of town and you cant choose your seats for it either, on the website or otherwise. (and you have to pay silly money for parking....) So We go to the Empire on the outskirts of the town.

God knows why you cant pick your seats, every other Cinema i know of you can.... :/

Looks like i will have to wait til Wednesday to watch this due to everyone else working etc...:p

Well, I just got back from watching it. I will reveal nothing, other than the fact I had high expectations that were met in some ways, but not in others. The dense, methodical beauty and depth of Alien, was sorely missed. It was as if too much mythology was being crammed in, and no one element was given enough time and attention.

There is one mini-spoiler, though I reveal no specific elements of the plot... Don't go in, as I did, expecting a direct prequel to Alien. You will be disappoint.

As for a score, I'm up in the air... 8/10, but half a point either way would be acceptable.

Good, this is one thing I actually didn't want, it's based in the same universe which is good enough for me. :D

Tomorrow night, it's finally almost here, I feel like I waited forever for this movie.
