The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

I love the hype surrounding Prometheus, it's not in your face every minute of every day, they're just building up a believable world to step into when you watch the movie :)

I'll be the first to admit I was little disappointed when I heard this would be in 3D, just go back to the earlier posts in this thread and I said just as much.

However after seeing the trailer for this in 3D before the Avengers movie, i'm sold, the visuals on this film are so outstanding and the 3D does not detract from that, it really does add an extra element.

I have never watched 3d before realy don't want to start with such a good movie. Ill just watch the cam from china :(

Go watch the Avengers, you'll see the trailer for Prometheus and see that the 3D does this film massive justice.

You admit not to having watched 3D before, so how can you have a solid opinion it is no good if you've never tried.

Why cut off your nose to spite your face by watching a cam copy or are you just trolling?

@ Malevolence...so happy about the R rating, however having tracked this film from the first rumours I never really had any doubts. It'll still be a 15 here though but I don't mind, a lot of 18 rated stuff from the 80's would probably get a 15 rating these days.

It's going to be pretty awesome to see chestbursting etc in full 3d. That's gonna make a lot of people jump I bet!

Prepare to be disappointed as there are no chestbursters or actual aliens as we know them in this movie.

It's a prequel but we won't see any actual 'Alien' aliens in this, except the Jockey, we will however see something a lot more awesome i'm hoping :D

Tickets now on sale at Birmingham big screen, whoop whoop. Got about 8 people coming along so far for the midnight screening, never seen people so hyped about a movie ever!

Tickets booked for the midnight showing at New Street Odeon in Birmingham, got 6 other friends coming along with me and we can't wait.

Remember that video of the kid crying because Modern Warfare 2 was a letdown, that'll be me if this movie sucks!

OK, so looks like dude gets this snake thing in his gob and begins mutating over the course of the film into a space jockey. Towards the end he climbs into the pilot seat/suit of the derelict and takes off for some nefarious purpose.

Have you heard the audio recording they released that had to be deciphered. It sounds as though he bites the snake, it explodes, acid all over the place and that's the shot of the masks glass melting inwards on someones face.

To stop him, Idris Elba flies the Prometheus into the derelict, causing it to crash on LV426. Final moments have the mutant jockey smash his way out of the pilot chair (hence the large hole in it that we see in Alien) and keel over, releasing a gaggle of little serpenty things which set up home -- and we assume evolve into the xenomorph we all know and love.

Scott and Lindelof have both confirmed this isn't the same planet and the same ship we see in Alien.

Also i'm convinced that the infection and subsequent transformation to the engineer comes from Shaw's lover with this eye worm as it appears they have sex shortly afterwards and there are shots of Shaw having something aborted.

For anyone who isn't aware, G.D.Toro stopped production on his movie At The Mouth Of Madness because there were so many paralels that people would claim he was ripping off Prometheus.

If thats true then doesnt that seem a bit silly, are the jockey's such bad pilots that there are loads of these things crashed everywhere? :D

Another quote from Scott says that the ship we see in Alien on LV-426 was actually "landed"...not crashed.

Some guys over at AVPGalaxy have analyzed the star chart maps we see in the trailers and while it's not the same planet, it could actually be orbiting the same system as LV-426.

For this sort of film I don't want a rammed cinema with heads in front, but the seat issue is the main thing. Can ruin a film IMO

Going to Odeon, have booked premiere seats with no one sat behind and tiered so no one in the way in front, sorts the seating problem.

My other thought is being a midnight premiere, it should be full of people who are dead serious about the movie and not making a nuisance of themselves :D
