The Official Prometheus (Alien Prequel) Thread

Some folks are thinking Ridley has pulled a fast one on us, he said the final 8 minutes tie in directly with Alien. The credits run for approximately 8 minutes on Prometheus and they use the original Alien score.

I don't think he'd do that to be honest but some peeps are convinced.

I wouldn't care if the Prometheus premiere was shown on a screen smeared with dog muck, i'd still be there to watch it.

Don't get the hate for 3D on this movie and am yet to hear a convincing argument against it for this particular movie.

Just booked my tickets for the imax 3d showing for the 10th, quite looking forward to it, but will have to dodge spoliers for a while!

I've had to blank my favorite Prometheus news websites over the last few days as more and more spoilers are emerging from the TV spots, i'm trying to avoid everything until June 1st.

Tell me about it - just stay away from all film websites imo.

It's funny because in the space of a week i've gone from reading and watching absolutely everything about Prometheus to blanking it all. There are far too many spoilers and too much being shown in the trailers now for my liking.

Oh well, only 7 days and 18'ish hours left til I see it :)

With this movie so imminent and the amount of reviews since the french press screenings yesterday, is anyone else scared to read anything even remotely Prometheus related for fear of spoilers?

I am now trying to swerve away from any information.. its incredibly hard tho!

Does anyone know if there is an expanded universe similar to that of the star wars franchise?

There are a few books and mountains of comics which extend the Aliens universe, not sure if they are considered official canon though.

For example, I have a 1989 series of Aliens comics that continues from the movie Aliens, as Alien 3 wasn't even out then, the story is better than the follow up movies as well.

I had heard rumours they were holding back on the 2D so the 3D gets more sales.

It's because Ridley wants it that way, he envisioned it in 3D and wants people to see it in 3D, that's why they are holding back the 2D screenings in some places. It's not just for higher sales although that will factor into it.

There is one mini-spoiler, though I reveal no specific elements of the plot... Don't go in, as I did, expecting a direct prequel to Alien.

Good, this is one thing I actually didn't want, it's based in the same universe which is good enough for me. :D

Tomorrow night, it's finally almost here, I feel like I waited forever for this movie.
