The worst bit is that he has an A+ and I had to explain it wasn't the actual lead from his kettle but a standard PC lead

Im not bothered about using for pal dvds! How do I register for demo downloads then? is it easy/ all in japanese? are the firmware updates done automatically?

Once you switch in on...you will have the option to change the lingo settings. Then from there on the xmb (cross media bar hmmm sounds sexy

) is pretty straight foward and even a monkey can do it.

Open a user account but pick US as your country then find a US address on the net and stick on to it...go to the PS store, register and download is free on demos.

You just need to register the console against a Japanese or USA address to be able to access the relative Playstation Stores for each region. You may want to create two logon accounts for this.

I have been to America a few times and they have some great resteraunts - if you need the address of any then google is your friend

I cannot afford any games yet im just gonna download some demo's for now!! can you play online using say a usa version game against a jap one?

Does the ps3 automatically download updates?

I doubt that but im sure someone will confirm it.

I think you have to check or set it to auto update...

I have never really been into the F1 games on consoles... but then again I was a huge fan of Geoff Crammonds F1 series on the PC and the console version just never really lived up to the realism for me.

I have played the demo of the PS3 title though and I have to say that I'm quite impressed.

so is it true about japanese systems being restricted? no gore and blood etc? oh and most power cables have 13 amp fuses in them is this to high?

I don't think the systems are restricted. But yeah you would need to swap the 13a fuse for a 3a fuse just to be safe
