***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

Hello OCers! It all well and good seeing these monster overclocks, and congrats, but does anyone have any overclocks on AIR, with perhaps a Zalman Aero Flower or similar cooling??

It seems like these quads are really quite hot, and water and Phase cooling are great, but not the most amazingly practical / cheap ways of getting a nice OC!!

Cheers!

I'll let you know today, I've got one arriving and going into possibly the worst configuration solution I can think of for a Q6600 but hey I'm optimistic.

Gigabyte GA G33M-S2 Micro ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Zalman CNPS8700-LED Aero Flower CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/775/AM2)

I need to clock my Quad to 2.8GHz (if I get a Quad) on Air, using a Ultra 120 and 1600rpm fan. Is this unrealistic (B3 stepping)

MY 6400 did 3.8ghz 24/7 on water.

The 6850's have been reaching 4ghz on water.

the 6850's hold no interest for me.

Give me 2 extra cores over 200 more mhz any day. :D

that and the 8mb cache :D
