***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

Not sure really, for the money I'm realy please wiht the Antec Nine Hundred, I can't think it would be that much different.

I've also got a 8800GTX and a Raptor HD in the case which run pretty hot!

I had to re-seat the cooler as I was getting really bad temps at first, also you need to make sure it's screwed down hard, made a huge difference.

im always unlucky with overclocks (or maybe its my skill) - i hope i get some decent kit this time and can oc to 300 - is this quite easy?

Tell me matey, always happens to me as well, I would say with G0 you would be very unlucky not to hit 3Ghz.

I'm very happy with my 3420Mhz :) also that all my temps are < 60 on air!

Headrat..You tried going any higher? I managed to get mine stable with 1.406V (in Bios) at 3.5Gz with the Tuniq Tower also. My temps are full loading in the mid 60's. Im sure it will go to 3.6 (9x400)...but im not sure if its any beter than what I have just now (8x438). I probably getting better memory performnce with what I have just now.

I'm not sure I am TBH, it's solid as a rock and pretty much noiseless at this speed, I'm sure if I get bored a little down the line I will give it a tweak.

To busy playing Bioshock and the World in Conflict Demo to spend too much more time ATM but to be honest another 200/300Mhz isn't really going to change the world is it ;)

Cheers

HEADRAT

I am currently running my G0 at 3Ghz (333 * 9) and it is rock solid with idle temps of 27C-30C and ftt prime95 load temps of 47C-50C. I do not need to adjust the volts at this clock as I have tested it for 10 hours with prime on 4 cores.

Anyway, I wanted to get more out of my processor so I upped the FSB to 370 * 9 (3.33ghz) and left the volts at default. My PC blue screened and realised that it would need more volts in order to be stable. I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and I set the voltages to auto adjust, everything boots up fine and the voltage according to Everest Ultimate the vcore is ranging from 1.28-1.33. I have speed step enabled simply because there is no point in running my cpu at uber speed when I am sat there browsing the web. I am guessing this accounts for the variation in vcore?

Do I leave the voltage to auto or do I set it to something manually? I quite like the idea of having the voltage to auto so it is not constantly getting more volts than it needs. Also load temps seem quite a lot higher at this speed, Everest and coretemp report upto 60C under primes ftt torture test. What are acceptable temperatures at these clock speeds, reading Intel specifications for the G0 core of the QX6850 the thermal threshold is 64C. So I am guessing at 3.33-3.4ghz it is going to be in the late 50's?

Specs are:

Q6600 G0
Gigabyte P35-DS3R (rev 1, latest bios)
OCZ PC2 6400 (4GB kit 2x 2GB)

Thanks in advance.

Still running strong at 3.2 (400 x 8) but temps are annoying me, at idle I get

#1 - 44
#2 - 42
#3 - 38
#4 - 41

But at load it goes up to about

#1 - 64
#2 - 62
#3 - 57
#4 - 62

This is on a Tuniq Tower 120 at half speed

I've reseated twice, reapplied artic silver twice, the second time the correct way that they recommend on the site

Still a bit high considering its a G0

:(

My B3 @ 3.2 hits 71 in blend with 1.4v with tuniq tower, yours does seem abit high for a GO, have you tried lapping the cpu and tower?

Got 3.8 stable for 3 hrs 36 mins @ 1.50 real, then my computer rebooted. Temps went upto 72 71 69 69, so I guess I need to invest in a duel rad and new pump.

There's no computer shops close to me who sell anything to do with water cooling. I'm going to Amsterdam on thursday so I may look around there.

Black ICE GT Stealth II £20 + post
XSPC RS240 UV Blue £25 + post

What are these rads like? would I see much of a drop from a single rad?

ive got the latest prime running on me q6600 go with small tfts and blend at the same time!i left it priming before i left work this morning and just checked it via the net and its still going ok! Greed prime logo on all 8boxes running!how long would u consider stable with both running together or do u still think 8hours is needed? Tia

8hrs (or more) is the norm around here for claiming stability with prime. ;)
