***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

Been running windows SMP folding on my q6600 at 3.7ghz, still on air for 3 days now. I think it's stable :D

I don't know how it is with folding, but if you were running seti@home it was one of the reasons for making sure that your rig was 100% with prime runs etc. As everything you calc whilst it's not 100% is useless as it's not calculating correctly. The program doesn't crash, just as prime doesn't if you turn off checking... but the results are wrong.

I can't understand why people don't want their computers 100% stable.
One 8 hr run of prime will almost make sure it is, and give you "peace of mind"

I've heard it all on this forum, games, windows and folding stable, when we all know none of them stress the machine more than prime.

My E6600 (ES) was prime stable at 3.94 but I was surprised I couldn't play games or run 3D mark over 3.75 ish , 3D mark would always crash on the cpu tests and game would always crash to desktop at random points.

I will always do a prime run before i settle on a 24/7 clock though.

thought i would ask this question here

should i go for the older b3 model if im only planing on a little bit of overclocking or should i still go for the g0 its cause im not planing on geting a 'enthusiast' motherboard im geting Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R ...?

I'd recommend a G0 even if someone wasnt OC'ing at all, just for the lower power requirements and cooler temps

Running on a reserator 1 and that was primed for 10 hours all ok and they were my temps/ what u think? its 55on idle! anyway any more info just ask!

also its a evga 680i board A1 revision!

yep...far to hot for a G0 at that speed and Vcore. Not sure how the restorator perofrms...but I though it was meant for silent cooling only...and not really meant to be for overclcoking...especially the power hungy quads! I maybe wrong...but im sure you would better temps with some air coolers!

I would imagine at those temps the chip would be "throttling" to save itself from burning out.

As said air would give better results, I have a G0 running a Tuniq and my temps never exceed 60 degrees

But it's not Prime stable ;)

Oh, but it is.

Folding at home will crash or 'EUE' (early unit end) at the slightest hint of instability in the cpu, mobo, mem or psu, is regarded as a very good indicator of long term oc stability. :)

Its not prime stable tested ( can't be bothered yet)

i got 333X9 easy on ip-35 with 1.34Volts
