***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

Yeah sorry it was a typo.I think it was 1.355.I was running prime for a couple of minutes when my mobo started beeping, opened uguru and it showed that PWM was at 80C!!!!!What is PWM?Everything is at stock now :(.What have I done wrong?

Ah

I don't think the PWM temps are too important. I would turn off the PWM alarm in BIOS. Try to fit a small fan on the heatsink if the temps worry you.

I tried again at 3.0Ghz this time with 1.3050 run prime for 2 minutes and I was monitoring PWM temps, went to 78 and then I stopped prime. The IP-35 is supposed to be a good board, why am I getting these temps on the PWM:(:(.I guess that I cant Overclock my CPU :(

Dude I run my P35-DS3P on water without a heatsink or airflow on the PWM's and have no issues.

Stop being a pussy and clock the quad!

:p

Right, startingto go off computers... nothing i overclock my processor to is stable. I cant even get 2.7ghz with 300x9 with 1.45vcore, is there something im missing? everythign i try can boot into vista but nothing will prime for longer than 3 seconds.

Sat here at stock with an expensive heatsink being wasted...

Edit: Prime wont even run at stock, really stuck on what to do now!

Sorry to interupt...

All fixed :D

Was a faulty motherboard where the memory slots wernt workign properly. So RMA it with no problem and then spent all weekend trying to get my second board to post. No luck, it was DOA... So RMA again and now sat on my third one in last week with all working fine and dandy. Useless gigabyte dq6...

Got my G0 q6600 yesterday, got it clocked to 3ghz with temps at 34 33 28 32, how accurate is core temp? my old qx6700 idled at around 54 at 3ghz  i must admit i am very impressed so far :D

my setup seems to die at 3.3ghz with 1.35v core, I reckon its the power supply(500watt liberty) because it gets into windows and i start to prime the 4 cores but the prime doesnt fail and the machine just dies and restarts (definitely think its psu related). i dont think its up to the job. i will have to get another 1 about 700watt should do the trick with plenty of amps,

for the moment i am running stock settings.

can anyone recommend one?

Anyone tried clocking these on a bfg 680i mobo? i can't get it above 3ghz:(

I am at 3.6 @1.4v stable on a droop modded evga 680i but I had to go 450x8 to do it as my board did not like a x9 multi on quad.

I found that I had to turn down the mcp and fsb volts to get there as well(compared to my E6600)

What voltage reading is right ?

Running my quad at 333x9 bumped the voltage up 1 notch in bios

Bios default 1.27
Current setting in bios 1.28

Everest & cpu-z reads 1.23

Giga g33mm-ds2r board

450x8:confused: mine overclocks via the cpu fsb frequency. Is their another way to overclock in the bios?
