***The Official Q6600 Overclocking Thread ***

wow, that's a good chip. I need 1.44V to run 9x400 stable. But Vdamper is really doing wonders :)

Sadly 1.35v didn't cut the muster, been priming for about a hour now at 1.4v set in the BIOS, temp still pretty good at 59c. Hoping to be able to run 9x400 or 8x450 as my end clock but of course going to see how far it goes stable first.

can I get some help overclocking my 6600 quad please. It's a B3 stepping one from this bundle - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-038-OK&groupid=701&catid=339&subcat=

Using the little knowledge I have of overclocking from reading random tutorials, I've got my 6600 running at 3.24ghz with cpu voltage on auto and ram voltage on 2.15 aswell as northbridge on 1.55 and random things turned off in the bios which i read that i should in a 6600 p5k forum post which seemed quite useful.

only problem is that when im running orthos and try to do something else the system will hang and restart and same in prime.

i think my next step i need to change my cpu voltage but im not sure what to.. i checked what it said in cpuz
(1.3360) ... well around that it keeps changing by a little bit. and in the bios i set it to just up from that... and it wouldnt even boot i tried it on 1.4000 and it booted but when i reopened cpuz it showed a lower voltage than i had set and even lower than the 1.3360 reading i had before :/

can someone help me on the voltage side of things please :)

ive got a thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme cpu cooler

any help would be much apreciated :)

Heres a screeny -

Those temps scare me if they are at stock speed - even with stock cooler.

Running prime?

They are 40 idle so what's your problem?

Sorry if we can't all have high end air coolers/water :/

I'm impressed. It idles at 39 so...

They don't seem far off at all...you've really stumped me here.

Alexx, i have a B3 with a Gigabyte board and @3.2 it needs 1.40v in bios to get it stable, CPU-Z shows 1.296.
With this v-core, temps hit 71 with a tuniq tower.

vcore set to 1.4v and it shows as 1.28v in cpuz.
i was running 1 instance of prime spred on all affinities and the system restarted when i started writing this at the same time.

it feels so close but so far! can anyone else help shed some light with the screeny ive posted above :)

thanks guys - sorry its probobly really annoying getting tons of crap overclockers on here!

** still set at 1.4 i noticed it seems to be on 1.3360 idle... not 100% sure but it might fluctuate down when getting used?** urgh i dont know :P

I seem to have got my head around disabling useless functions that impare overclocking and all the fsb and so on its just voltages on the cpu i cant seem to grasp right now.

shes running pretty cool with 30c idle and shy of 50 load so im sure ive got some room to blast some more volts threw?

Just giving you my opinion:confused: No need to get all defensive.:(

You're welcome. You may be getting some VDroop on that, try 1.35 or 1.4.

Can't seem to get any results after trying those voltages either. I did make some progress though... got to 2.82GHz @ 1.25v... hooray :p Any other ideas? I'm sure even with my board I can get a steady 3GHz on air :)

can anyone help me or point me in any directions :/

ive got the vcore set to 1.5 in the bios and it shows as 1.4v in cpuz is this right?

What do you think about my temps cob?

Running prime they can range from 60-69 @ 2.8ghz with 1.275 volts. Would you recommend a new air cooler or should I be fine?
