**The Official Returnal Thread**

Runs really well ime. The streaming-stutters do happen but not in combat so in the end it's an annoyance but not a dealbraker by any means. Enjoying it so far!

ok so they added saves later on some time after release on the ps5, but it looks like only one save in a run

that will take some getting used to, i save every 5 minutes in skyrim and doom

Sunk another few hours in last night, I'm completely absorbed at this point, very intrigued to see where the story will go.

3rd life in I managed to clear out the forest, desert and citadel areas, I love how metroidy it feels with the scans/storytelling. The bosses so far have been brilliant, don't think I even blinked when I fought them all, proper edge of the seat stuff.

The nemesis boss at the citadel was fantastic, the visuals and music were perfect, definitely one of those moments that will stick with me.

I didn't expect it to be over, but didn't see a fake out ending coming either, very cool.

Made it to the 2nd biome, loving it. First game this year which has gone on my Game of the Year 2023 list (though its going to have stiff opposition potentially from the likes of Diablo 4, Starfield and Baldurs Gate 3)

I'll say one thing for this game - it was made for OLED and HDR!

One more thing though, can we petition game developers to stop putting lantern jawed female (I think?) protagonists in games now, it's getting very tiresome. Makes me yearn for the days of Lara Croft's 6 polygon bosoms.

This game is surprisingly engaging, didn't think I'd like it. It feels like a cross between Metroid Prime with the map layouts and doors, and the weirdness and play style of Control.

There are annoying stutters/ hitches though, even without ray tracing on. Even though it pre loads shaders, it feels like the classic Unreal Engine 4 stutter to me unfortunately. #stutterbollocks

Very nice game even though I don't know what I'm doing. I guess I need to look at some guides.
Runs flawless on my 9700k and 6900XT, ultra settings at about 100 FPS. No stutters or anything.

Completed a few full runs now, I'm just trying to scour around for a few of the missing ciphers and the odd scout log. I'm sill nowhere near done leveling all the weapons traits to max though, some combinations feel really good, with a select few just trivializing the game if you're lucky to get them. It's funny how bad a run can turn within a few moments, even after clearing the game I've died quickly in the beginning areas, it's really easy to underestimate the danger you can throw yourself into.

It's been brilliant throughout, pretty much top marks on visuals, audio and atmosphere/world design. I think the story will be hit and miss for some people, but I really enjoyed piecing things together.

The endings certainly turn things on their head, listening to the logs and reading all the glyphs around the world really take on a new meaning once you understand what's actually going on.

All the bosses were great, boss 2 gives me heavy Metroid Prime vibes, akin to fighting something like Ridley. The boss 3 fight was intense as hell the first time, just a really big omg what is going on moment. The build up to boss 4 with the music was great, reminded me of zelda when you ascend the castle, the organ x synth soundtrack was epic.

Biome 5 was a definite step up in difficulty, I was getting by reasonably well with minimal deaths until that point. As soon as I landed there I crumbled in the first room and struggled to get even get back there in good shape. It took me several attempts before I landed lucky with the RNG and had a strong build/weapon, a bit of patience and it was actually too bad. After that the final biome underwater seems a step down, I'm always powered up to the point that nothing really gets near me, even the boss doesn't cause any issues.

I've not really done the tower of Sisyphus yet, just a quick attempt that didn't go far, that's my next goal.

I've killed the first two bosses (the second one by the slitherist of health bars), havent reached the 3rd boss yet

with me having no monitor at the moment playing with a ps5 pad on my lg cx. i have this problem where after i finish a challenge from the ship i get transported back and my left stick then fails to work along with pause and map buttons and the only way of getting out of it is ctrl alt delete. even if i turn of the ps5 pad the keyboard and mouse will only fire and dash  loving the game so far on the 3rd biome tried helping a few through the first area and to get some secrets but reviving takes a little to long in the boss fights :D
