The kicking angle wasn't favourable at all to be honest so I can see why they went for the corner (Edit: having just read that Owen Farrell was sure that he would have made the kick, I don't know why they didn't go for goal). Ultimately paying the price with a loss and not a draw (or even more as they could have taken the restart and pressured Wales into giving away a penalty). My main concern with the whole game was the referee. The line out that lead to the English try wasn't straight yet was deemed okay. Holding on to the ball was pot luck as he could blow the whistle instantly or not at all (AWJ says hello).

Who was the better team... Arguably Wales for holding their nerve when England could have closed the game at any point at the start of the second half.

This makes it extremely difficult for England now. Assuming Wales win vs. Fiji (which with the injuries, short turn around, and Sod's law we prob won't - but alas we are in the millennium stadium so we have that on our side) then England need to beat Australia. Obvious, yes, but if Australia win, that is it, the ozzies go through automatically as do Wales. Then Australia need to figure if they want to top the group or Come second (depending on quarter groupings) and field a first/second string team accordingly. This is going to make for a tense few weeks, that I am sure of

They should have just given New Zealand the trophy once they knew the groups and save the hassle of playing any games. NZ's first team are probably enjoying a nice long rest before they are needed in the quarter/semi final.

Haven't watched one game yet, and don't plan too as the six nations is more exciting than this.

Look it's clear that England were the better team for most of the game, but as ever the Welsh hate us so much they're prepared to hurt themselves and sustain multiple injuries (including a boot in the head for one lucky punter) just to beat us.

What a bizarre statement. Are you saying that the injuries sustained by Wales were due to their "hatred" causing them to somehow pick up injuries they wouldn't have against other opponents

Liam Williams hates England so much, he headbutted Tom Woods' boot :D

Watched Scotland power to victory again this afternoon. I admit, I was a little concerned at half time, but what a second half! It was barely worth the Yanks showing up! The Quarter Finals edge ever closer :D

Good second half showing from the Scots but I'd have to agree about a slight concern at half time. USA finished the stronger of the two teams in the first half although I do wonder whether that would still have been the case if Hogg hadn't stuffed up the pass to Visser when they looked to have a clean run to the line. The USA line out was pretty abysmal for most of the match which really didn't help them but also I don't think they managed to put the ball in straight to the scrum even once, Scotland weren't great in that regard either but at least once or twice they got it in straight.

Can't really complain though, two wins and two bonus points is as good as it can get. I just hope that Finn Russell's injury is nothing serious.

Just wow!

Are you that bigoted yourself that all you see is alleged bigot behaviour from others?

Could it be that Wales just wanted it more and were prepared to lay it all out and England wasnt? :confused.... Fortes Fortuna Juvat all all that...

Strong showing form Scotland. Yes, by the end of the first half it wasn't looking great but Scotland had solid possession and some opportunities that were just thrown away, while USA in the first half had less chances but succeed in converting them to points. The moment the second half started it was clear Scotland were in control of the game. A win against the springboks would be sweet,

I love the 6N as much as anyone but this is just utter nonsense. Talk about cutting off the nose to spite the face.

Eng v Wales was great to watch as a neutral. Japan beating South Africa was one of my favourite ever moments watching the sport. GF and her mates were shouting at the TV as much as I was. They finally 'got' it understood why I loved the game so much.

The minnow have almost without exception caused problems for the more established sides. If Japan had more time to recover I'd have fancied them against Scotland. USA did well too for 40 mins. Fiji had a lot of dubious decisions go against them in the opener (excluding the non-try). Canada scared the hell out of Italy and Georgia got their upset against Samoa.

Good start from Scotland. Cant see them beating the springboks and samoa will be tough with a win needed to get to the quarters.

We laughed at Stuart Hogg getting man of the match yesterday.:D

They've been beaten before, and as long as it is a good match, so what? You never know what can happen. Yes they're a good team, but that's a pretty short sighted way of seeing things. Do you just give up on everything if there's a challenge ahead?

Lol.

Overreaction much? It seemed like a pretty clear tongue in cheek comment to me

Listen to this guy and have a word with yourselves.

Back to 'the game', Robshaw just isn't that skilful a rugby player in my opinion, even for a flanker. He's in there mainly as a good skipper as there are better players that can play in his position, yet he failed to even do that properly. Several times he looked miles off pace in terms of speed and ball handling.

Wales have announced their team for Thursday. Pack unchanged with Cuthbert for Amos, Tyler Morgan for Scott Williams and Matthew Morgan for Liam Williams. Big game for the two Morgan's but I would have probably did the same. However I would have put Charteris in for Davis and Tipruic for Lydiate.

I'd have done the same...

Also, something else to cheer you all up:

Hitler learns that they didn't kick for the draw...

I nearly choked when heard this on the news, whats Easter now, 67 or something ffs? That the best we have? :(

He did have a good domestic season in an underperforming team and although he is a specialist No.8 he can play second row in an emergency, sadly we are not strong with choices for Eights these days.

I call a workmanlike bonus point win for Wales here, Wales are a momentum team and now have that, and Gatland will not let them get sucked into an open game against Fiji. Expect a lot of "bosh" and power and only a few fleeting moments of enterprise from the red boys.
