I enjoyed the match but as a neutral I thought Fiji were held to a higher standard at the breakdown and maul. I reckon there were 5 or 6 penalties against Fiji that should have gone the other way. There was also a critical maul in the last 10 minutes where Falateau released and retackled from an offisde position which had me screaming at the TV. I thought Wales played well and intelligently but apart from being far too loose Fiji were brilliant to watch and so so dangerous.

Fiji were unlucky to be in that pool really. Reckon they'd have had a shot at at least 3rd or even 2nd in the other pools. Certainly in pool B I reckon they'd have had a real shot against SA, Scotland, Samoa and Japan.

England to beat Australia and along with it wales hearts as they go on to win the group with Australia second

Wales will rue not getting the bonus points against Fiji

you heard it here ;)

I watch a lot of Super 15 rugby and I am seriously worried about the Aussies, the Brumbies and Waratahs have both been solid the last few seasons and under Chieka the Wobblies are a much more solid team. In the Championship they got a very good win at home versus the AB's and the backline is as dangerus as they get.

I jut can't see England pack getting the dominance they will absolutely rely on to squeese the Aussies out of the game and I so desperately want England to win.

Australia did very recently beat the all blacks. I agree with placid above, Australia have the better set of backs so England need to beat them up front, although with the Pocock and Hooper combination it's not going to be easy.

I agree... I think England will do it, but sadly I think Wales will not next week (although I did think England would beat us so I was marginally wrong there).

I guess one (very small) consolation would be that England needs to win every game now to get to the final, and the only team to have beaten them in the RWC would have been Wales...

Scotland being mullered in all aspects of the game here apart from a small bit of fortunate officiating.

Scotland aren't playing particularly well and making too many mistakes but for the first try it looked like there was a forward pass immediately before the try - however there was no replay of that part so I couldn't check whether my first impression was right or if it was just the angle that misled me. Not that I think it would make much difference to the score at the moment, South Africa clearly deserve to be a couple of tries in front and Scotland haven't created anywhere near enough in terms of attacking play.

Good win for Japan earlier with some exciting attacking play but they seemed not to want to go for the bonus point in the second half although to be fair Samoa did improve a bit. On another note why do a number of the commentators insist on saying Sarmoa? There's definitely an errant "r" in there.

Hmmmm split loyalty from me.
I'm a South African living in England for the last 15 years, emigrating to Australia in 3 months.

Who do I root for?! :D

Reckon it will have to be England!

Best thing about this game is Nigel Owens

Hmm, he seemed to be keener to give South Africa the benefit of the doubt but equally that may be my bias showing through. One instance was with Pietersen tackling and upending the Scotland player so he ended up on his head - while I agree with him that there was no malice involved and taking a common sense view it shouldn't have meant a card as the commentators pointed out a strict interpretation of the rules should have seen him off as he didn't safely return the player to the ground after upending him through 90 degrees. Then again you've got Hogg falling over theatrically as Supercow points out and he just gave him a warning so maybe it somehow balances out.

Could we have Flatters in more commentary boxes please! I don't care what sport just get him there :D

His column in the Sport magazine which comes out on Thursday/Friday each week is good too. He did talk a lot of sense in the commentary and that's quite a rare talent.

The most shameful **** I've ever seen, though Nigel's response is immense

I think that's a slight over-reaction and please be careful about the swearing. Hogg shouldn't have done it and I think/hope he'd be honest enough to admit that. There was no need to go down quite so dramatically, there was nothing in it that deserved his reaction. If I was being generous I'd suspect he was reacting to what he thought would happen with 20+ stone that looked like it was about to hit him but absolutely no need.

Well done on the win to South Africa anyway, Scotland just couldn't really get moving and apart from the intercepted try the main bright points I'd take from it is that the game was closer than the last time the sides played and that South Africa didn't get the bonus point for tries scored. It certainly makes the group interesting though and means that Scotland must win against Samoa unless USA can somehow prevent Japan winning.
