*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

The battery is astonishing. I have GPS and wifi/mobile data on 24/7 and easily get 2 days out of the battery. I will never go to a smaller screen again or to a phone with a crap battery. Best phone... In the world.

Cant really comment on the battery tbh, im still charging it nightly as thats what im used to, but even after a lot of use at work (3 year old playing games etc etc) I dont think ive seen it drop below 40%. I had a S3 but I wasnt keen, so went back to a One X which I was smitten on but saw the Note II and thought why not and I have to say im in love with it

Anyone gone from a iPhone 5 to Note II? What do you think? Is it worth it? Getting pretty bored of my iPhone now to be honest

I went from iphone 5 to the note 2, never looked back. It's an amazing phone, and can do so much more than the iphone 5 you do get used to the size quickly, I love it!

Had mine a couple of days, best phone I have ever had. I had the note one which was great, but this phone is so much faster, battery on 61% are 1.5 days of my usual use where I would be charging the old note by now. I think the slimmer screen from note one is great, much better in hand and the whole phone feels very solid. I really like the notification light as well, so handy. Waiting for a leather pouch to be delivered, don't really like the flip cases or leather 'credit card as well' holders. I have the white phone and was thinking of getting the 'grey back' to make it a little different. Not rooted, installed Nova prime which means I have a phone tailored to how I like it. I have a work iphone 4s and this thing blow its away in terms of how I use it and ability to change and fiddle with things. Screen is great, put in a 32Gb card and have my music and video on there. Am cancelling my current o2 plan and looking at all in one plan from Three, 18.90 600 mins, 5000 texts, all you can eat data and 1 month rolling contract.

really pleased, I might try and use paragraphs next time :)

For anyone that's interested..

As a user of swiftkey it irked me somewhat to lose the handwriting recognition in s-note. I don't want to use Samsung's keyboard all the time, only when in s-note.

That's been fixed now with an app developed by someone on XDA. Find the thread here

Root obviously required. I've done it and it works like a charm.

Couldn't find it posted already so apologies if a pearost :D

Hey guys I just bought a SIM-free GN2 @ Dubai airport, really happy with it :D

But I wanted to ask your help in tracking down a really TOUGH case for it that COMPLETELY encloses the GN2 from all sides. And of course is capable of fully protecting the phablet from your "average" drop height.

Thanks :)

Otterbox Defender

Although it adds significant size to an already big phone. The same company also produce 'The Commuter' which may be more to your liking.

I would try this first as it's cheap and I can't see how other cases would be better for protection without paying OTT money.

Gel case + screen protector = plenty of protection.

That looks great, thanks. Have put it on my shortlist :) I can see that it encases the phone well - but the screen is still exposed? It would be great if they made flip-case with this grade of toughness.

Im flapping most about the screen :(

^^^ nice but price is mental.

Mrs has this one for the Note1: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390485566...sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=390485566645&_rdc=1

It's a shame there isn't one for the Note 2.

Ohh bummer that they dont make that for Note 2! :( (the case your Mrs has!)

Thanks guys, appreciate it, added to list!

You can get a Poetic hardback flip case off the rainforest for £8.95, I've got a Poetic hardback on my Nexus 7, superb case, low profile, hard and has a clasp to shut the flap.

I have done just that :) so bored of the iphone now and this monster is great. Don't get me wrong the novelty will wear off but you can do sooooo much more.

1 thing I will say is if you do switch, I tried to make a sim adapter from nano to micro and broke the pins in the sim tray :( cost me another £15 and 5 days without my new phone but all is well now. Just be careful when pushing the sim card in because after braking mine I noticed the amount of trays bought on ebay so must be common thing.

Oh my powermat and coil came yesterday, just need to figure the phone out before messing with it.

I've just flashed the latest Perseus kernel v31.2 on my Note II which has Samsung's fix for the sudden death syndrome (SDS) included. If any of you have been following the S3 thread you will know that they randomly started dying. It looks like the Note II is also affected.

It is caused by eMMC failure on phones with VTU00M 16GB internal memory chips with revision 0xF1. You can check your phone with the "eMMC Brickbug Check" in the Play Store. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check&hl=en) Ignore the message if it says you're not affected, the type and revision is what matters.

Isn't the XXDLL7 supposed to fix it? or is it something else now.
Currently running 4.1.2 stock.

Yes I think the latest Samsung update fixed it, so if you are on stock and you've been updating you should be safe.

I'm on a custom ROM (4.1.2 - XXDLJ2).
