*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

I've just flashed the latest Perseus kernel v31.2 on my Note II which has Samsung's fix for the sudden death syndrome (SDS) included. If any of you have been following the S3 thread you will know that they randomly started dying. It looks like the Note II is also affected.

It is caused by eMMC failure on phones with VTU00M 16GB internal memory chips with revision 0xF1. You can check your phone with the "eMMC Brickbug Check" in the Play Store. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check&hl=en) Ignore the message if it says you're not affected, the type and revision is what matters.

I am running the latest RedPill kernel which says it has the fix on, I assume this will be all fine then :/

Rev1.01 (CURRENT STABLE RELEASE)

Completely Rebased on N8000 Source
Use newest and official Exynos-Abuse patch from Samsung (Thanks to AndreiLux for the additional patches re: static cma regions)
Fix Freezes for some Devices when transferring large files via USB
Fix SOD for some Devices
Change CPU Idle Settings back to stock
Remove Dynamic FSync (Ability to enable or disable FSync is still available)
Removed ROW I/O as sio/deadline/zen perform better in our tests
USB Charging Rate increased to 1700
Tweaked pegasusq for battery life (limit sampling rate in suspend)
Removed Conservative (as new tweaked pegasusq can save battery with the right settings)
Added Dynamic STweaks XML Implementation by AndreiLux (Thanks to AndreiLux)
Updated STweaks (Thanks to Gokhan Moral)
use get_random_int() to fix entropy depleting (Thanks to Jeff Liu)
Updated sensorhub driver, device sensors

Let's hope so, mines the same eMMC chip as yours! AndreiLux is the dev of the perseus kernel so we have the same patch.

SDS on the note 2 as well? lolSamsung :(.

I'll have to have a look and see whether it was fixed in LL7 or whether they only fixed the exynos expoit.

Edit: Same type/fwrevision as mrk on mine, different date. Guess I'll go see if LL7 fixed it or not then :o.

Looks like LL7 fixed it :). I'm going to need to flash a new recovery though as I flashed the CWM one linked from Wanam's post which is quite old, I think, so I doubt that that has the fix included.

is VTU00M 16GB internal memory chips with revision 0xF1
only specific to the Note 2?

Or is that what we look for in the S3 and S3 LTE?

Was starting to get fed up with the amount of spam mails I was getting on my yahoo account, obviously on pc there filtered into my spam box but everything was coming through to inbox on phone, set it up manually as Imap rather than the default pop3 and all my folders etc are there and sync'd no more spam (or hopefully nowhere near as much) :)

No worries, On their site I think it is 33.50.. I spoke to them on the phone and managed to get it for £31... I was an orange customer renewing though so maybe thats why, give them a call they are helpful! :)

Ok so I'm still looking for one of these on contract. Best I've found so far is phones4u on vodafone.....

12 months
unlimited minutes
unlimited text
1gb data
£59.99 for the phone
£47 a month

£50 quidco

Total over the term £623.99 (or £573.99 with the quidco). Link

Has anyone found a better deal? I don't need many minutes or texts (maybe 100 of each), but can't afford more than £100 up front for the phone at the moment.

Cheers

edit:

Closest other option I've seen is also phones4u

FREE Samsung Galaxy Note II
600 Minutes
Unlimited texts
500MB Data Allowance.
24 months
£29 a month

total of £696
