*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

Just tell it to ignore any errors.

Edit: You did tell it to use "Alternate dbase mgmt" right? It causes all sorts of issues if you don't, like disappearing bindings but some bindings actually still existing.

i didnt actually..in the instructions i read on XDA it didnt mention that but iv ticked that part now so hopefully it will be fine this time.

Thankfully the chip in my Note 2 is safe from bricking. Stuck the RedPill kernel onto it with stock ROM and wow is this thing fast. Battery life is even better too!

It's a particular issue with certain phones, mostly Samsung devices. I've had no issues since enabling it.

I have N7105 LTE, will redpill kernel work on this or N7100 only? (Very new to android. Been an Apple **** for years ;) )

Decisions....

Vodafone - 12 month, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes, 1gb data £47 a month, £59.99 up front - Total £623.99

O2 - 24 month, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes, 1gb data, £26 a month free phone - Total £624

Excuse my ignorance, but why is it clearly better? You're tied in with the same phone for 2 years.

Yeah, not sure how it is "clearly better" either

I rather go on o2 but vodafone is 12 months as opposed to 24.

You pay the same price for 24 months of phone + calls/txt/data rather than 12. That is most definitely clearly better!

You can always change phones after a year and use the sim for "free".

Because the O2 is only 1p more, but for 2 years of service, whereas Vodafone is only 12months?

Unless of course you enjoy throwing away money, then by all means, go for that vodafone ripoff "deal".

Eh? :o I can sort of see your point kreeee. But after 12 months, you can get far better sim only deals for a much cheaper monthly price (of course assuming that he wants to have more data)

Vodafone is 12 months
02 is 24 months

Both same deal and work out more or less the same in the end.

Next year there will be a whole lot of new phones out again, which means he can upgrade a lot easier and get whatever the latest is.

I thought everyone on this forum would kill to have a decent 12 month contract as everyone hates being tied into 24 months?

How are you stuck with the same phone for 2 years? You can easily buy a new phone during that time, a contract doesn't stop you. If you want a new phone on contract instead you just pay the contract off, it still doesn't cost more than the Voda deal (you'll likely get a discount paying it off early, making it more than 1p cheaper). And if you're still happy with the phone you just keep it and get an extra years worth of service.

But you would get a new contract and therefore new phone after the first year which you could sell.

Vodafone 2 x £639.99 = £1279.98 - £1000 (2*£500 phones) = £279.98 - £150 (rough value of first phone after a year to sell) = £129.98 total contract price

O2 £640 - £500 (value of 1 phone) = £140 total contract price

But I suppose it could be

Vodafone = 2 x £639.99 = £1279.98 - £300 (2*selling price of phones) = £979.98 total contract price

O2 = £640 - £50 (selling after 2 years) = £590 total contract price

I've learned never to count on selling prices, you never know what's gonna happen in two years. From now on I will always been be buying outright anyway unless I see an amazing deal with a good provider.

How does that make any difference? You could pay off the o2 one after a year and get a new phone too.

There's 4 things you could decide to do:

1. Keep the phone for 2 years; o2 is obviously cheaper as now you don't have to pay an extra years phone usage.
2. Buy a new phone (off contract); again o2 is cheaper as you already have your allowance paid for for 12 months longer than the Voda deal.
3. Get a new contract after a year; o2 is cheaper since they'll likely give you a discount for paying the contract off early, at worst they'll be the same.
4. Decide that after 12 months the phone you want isn't out for another 3 (or whatever) months; o2 is cheaper as you don't have to pay 3 (or whatever) months usage.

In none of those situations is the 12 month deal better.

Some of you guys have many screws loose!

You could get the 24 month o2 contract, be a mental person and chuck the sim after 12 months and pay off the contract.

You would have spent the exact same amount as the Vodafone one!

To me the best thing about the o2 deal is that o2 don't lock their phones, usually, I got my first Note by buying the ultra cheap ten quid Note deal and putting a gg then as 3 sim in iirc the whole deal worked out at about £25 a month over 2 years, I still pay out £10.50 a month.

Don't forget tcb or quidco when working out your deal.

I wouldn't mock the Vodka deal because 12 months is great and it will almost certainly have better signal.

Please explain how 12 months is great when a 12 month and 24 month contract cost the same amount .
