*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

Can someone clarify what the situation is with notes and 4g. Are all notes 4g capable, or only the ones sold for ee. If there are two types of note 2's how should I know the difference? Is the none 4g version cheaper?

There are 2 versions. The LTE is the 4G enabled version and is sold by EE, Orange and T-Mobile, its product code is GT-7105. The none 4G has a code of GT-7100.

Thanks for that. With a view to the future i will try and get hold of the lte version. I am not necessarily interested in paying the extra cost for a 4g contract currently, but I presume the costs should come down. Also I imagine the sell on price for an lte version should be higher in the future.

This was my though process and I went for the LTE, paid an extra £50 which isn't much really, I know I'd have been kicking myself if 4G came to me and I couldn't get it because of my phone!

My mate sent me someone else's contact details via text from his iphone as a vcf. Thing is my note 2 wants to open it as a video file, does anyone know how to open it properly?

I did simliar but went for the 4G contract now.

what contract did you go for mate?

I bought the phone and went for the panther 20.50 on orange, £15.50 a month for 12 months, 600mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data, you can bolt on data @500mb for £5. The 20.50 should usually be £20.50 but there was £5 a month off, not sure if that's still running on their website though.

If you go with orange, they say you can switch from orange to EE at any time in your contract, so I plan to sit tight and if I get a good signal in the lakes I'll swap over, it's likely to take a while here though.

That is not strictly true, if you are over 6 months into your T-Mobile or Orange contract you will have to pay the early termination fee with a 33% discount. If you are under 6 months into your contract you can upgrade for free as long as you sign a new 24 month contract and have a 4g ready phone.

edit
and if you took it out after 6/11/12 then you have to go on a £5 p/m higher contract price than you are currently on.

Got to love the small print :o Another reason why I don't like being tied in to a 24 month contract, you're never stuck with one deal for too long.

Dock arrived today, the USB port is tighter than the Zenis dock on the S3/S2 but it should loosen over time. Fit and finish is the same as the Zenis, the base if all rubber which is slightly higher quality than the plastic of the Zenis though.

On the Note 2 it doesn't seat on the back as there's a few mm of gap so I used sticky backed rubber feet on the dock back to allow the phone back to rest without stressing the USB port. It's clearly a dock designed for multiple phones both portrait and landscape and with cases attached.[/QUOTE]

I'm about to order this one:

The funny thing is that because I'm using the Note II so much I tend to not even use the dock I bought as it's a bit tedious docking and undocking every other moment when getting up to use it.

It's come to the point where I am just using a USB cable connected to my monitor so that when I am sat at the desk I can use the phone at teh desk without having to reach over.

I think I'll just bring it into work instead :p
