*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

Been so long since I did any phone flashing... are there any good tutorials you guys know of before I go through loads of search results? :D

The AOSP JellyBean theme for LL4 works fine on Wanam 2.5.

Just flash the Individual version made for Simplistic framework. It works whether you use SF or not. I found it remembered my toggles from SF previously installed on an older version of Wanam which was nice as I don't have the SF control app installed any more!

Thanks. Would I need this one?

CWM Recovery with auto root(Unrar, Flash cwm6-root-n7100.tar via odin): cwm6-root-n7100-121015.rar

Does Contacts>Import/Export>Where you want it saved>import from where it's saved work?

That's for vcards or whatever they are, dunno if they're different to vcf files or whether it's just a different name for them :p.

Thanks, that's not exactly how I did it but it gave me an idea. Basically I had to go to the text, save the attachment to the phone and then in the my files browser I could open it as a new contact. Bit convoluted but it worked!

I read in another thread about some chap got rid of his Note 2 because the sound was awful. So i did test mine and what i found was the supplied Samsung earbuds aren't that great at all. I did try my big Sony X-Bass MDR-XB500 headphones and the sound was so much better and perfectly acceptable (obviously). I'm no audiophile but fairly good sounding music is a must. So can someone recommend me some earbuds with a £30-60 budget? Senns? (i noticed the stock pair of Samsung earbuds cost like £3 odd).

Oh yeah, you have to save attachments first. I thought you were opening the actual vcf using a file explorer or something. Samsung opening every MMS attachment as a video (even when it's just plain text that someone elses Samsung phone autoconverted to MMS) is annoying :p.

Bought some RHA earbuds from the rain forest. £25ish. Awesome and comfortable with a decent warranty.

The funny thing is that because I'm using the Note II so much I tend to not even use the dock I bought as it's a bit tedious docking and undocking every other moment when getting up to use it.

It's come to the point where I am just using a USB cable connected to my monitor so that when I am sat at the desk I can use the phone at teh desk without having to reach over.

I think I'll just bring it into work instead :p

Yeah, I only really use docks for my bedside table so I can use the phone as an alarm clock and use a tidied usb cable for my pc. Kaloer clock automatically brings up the clock screen when you plug it in (as I'm sure most of them do) which is quite handy at night.

After my problems with LL7 noticed that XXDMA5 had been released on Thailand unbranded handsets, so thought I'd give it a go will report back soon to see what the main gripe with LL7 for me is now like

The average battery I'm getting on the stock kernel on every rom update is 20 hours with 4+ hours of screen on time. I know it's been said plenty of times but battery life just gives immense piece of mind on this. Going to be very hard to get used to the next phone if it can't match that. I won't get another Note though if the rumours of a bugger model are correct.

This really is the maximum.

Is that 4 hours screen on when your battery is flat or just how long you've normally used it for at the end of the day?

If that's a full 100%-0% that seems pretty bad unless you're listening to a load of music with the screen off or making tons of phone calls :p.

I take it LL3 has been pretty much the same as older ROMs battery wise? Only got around to flashing it this morning (why does WanamLite never restart the phone for me at the end of the Aroma install?) so will have to wait for tomorrow before I can fully charge it :).

I agree on the size too (atm anyway, I used to think the first/current one was too big :p), 6.3 as rumoured seems too big to me. They could make it not that much bigger by having edge to edge screen, but then you have the problem of pressing the side of the screen by accident, so I don't really know how I'd feel about that without testing it out.

Just end of the day. Yesterday as an example I had 30% left when I got home just before midnight and with just over 4 hours screen time, some voice calls and light GPS usage (location polling for Facebook etc).

LL3 has been updated to some version from Thailand I hear but waiting on Wanam update. Aroma sometimes doesn't restart for me either, just hold power button and it boots back into recovery :p

Speaking of recovery, TWRP is so good, the touch buttons are just so quick :D

Yeah, I much prefer TWRP to CWM now :D. I do normally just reset it but it's annoying when I press the button and forget about it, then I'll look again later and it's stuck on that screen :p.

Yeah, I saw the new official one was out, it has the same changelog as LL7 though so I'll probably give it a miss and wait for something else :).

Just FYI, had an email notification to say that the Samsung Smart Dock for the Note II is in stock for £55 at Clove.
